This is the first Music Video of yours that you’re not present. What was it like taking on the roll of director this time around? 

I actually thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a completely different skillset required when standing behind the lens, you’re expected to express empathy even in rushed or unexpected situations. As director, any emotions that aren’t beneficial to those on set need to take a back seat & you’re the first to blame when any mistakes are made. Luckily, I’ve had plenty of years experience directing my clips now, so it wasn’t too much of a leap switching from protagonist to a role behind the scenes… It’s interesting, this is the first time I’ve not been in front of the camera & to be honest, it feels just fine. Developing this concept the last few months was more about showing a seperate side of marriage, one that’s rarely captured on video.

It’s a massive bonus having naturally motivated talent on set though, it genuinely seems like nothing is impossible for my team, Moonboy Ent. The speed in which they comprehend the ideas I place on the table is something I’ve not experienced in a young group before. We’ve published 11 video’s together this year & we still have so many more to come.

It’s true, you seem to have a new video released every week, how is this possible for an independent artist? 

Oh, I wish it was every week! At the moment I’m aiming for a high quality clip every fortnight, at least… What most people won’t know is that every cent made from my works goes right back into creating more, it’s a never ending cycle & I’ve fallen in love with it. I’ve always had a mentality catered toward the long-term, so watching the steady growth occur from releasing these visuals has been a welcome success for me. For about a decade I searched for the right videography team, a group that was equally as talented as they were easy to work with, it’s literally felt like a lifetime but I’m excited to say I’ve found a group that’s physically & mentally equipped to deal with all my ideas, & I have many…

I’m also of the belief that my artistry has the power to improve the perspective of others & perhaps even develop their emotional intelligence. Through my lyricism & video’s I want to leave as much of a guidebook as I can for future generations to come. Some people learn through audio, others through visual, I hope to provide the best of both while I’m here.

You’ve already released a video for ‘I Belong to You’, right?

I have yes… Every song of mine tends to get at least four videos. I know, most people think it makes absolutely zero sense. The methodology behind this is that I release a visual the day of release, usually a lyric video, which is proven to gain the most traction. Then, whilst I await the final edits of the second visual, which is usually the music video, I release the official audio & artwork on my YouTube Channel, this keeps the YouTube algorithms happy & keeps me in suggested… Eventually, as both these videos start to dwindle, I promote & then release the defining blast of the campaign, presenting my actual vision. In the midst of these releases, I’m usually working on the next single – filming & creating concepts for that campaign as well.

It seems as though it never stops & that’s because it doesn’t. I came to the realisation late last year that the journey is in fact the destination. If you’re not in love with the current moment you’ll never find a moment to love. I adore the process & I think that’s why I release so much content, I can’t see any purpose in stopping just yet. Right after the release of the next single, the final push is a live session, which is generally just a reminder that the song still exists & I think you should still listen to it.

This wasn’t your first time working with actors on-set, but what was it like with Michael & Megan? 

They’re husband & wife, which makes pretending that they love each other quite the piece of cake. In a few words, they were absolutely delightful. Even though the 3 days of shooting were full on, all of us had an absolute ball & I’m so grateful it all went according to plan.

What are you hoping from this Music Video release?

I just hope that people feel the vision. I hope viewers empathise with the story & place themselves in the shoes of an elderly couple that have gone against all odds & are still completely & utterly in love. This song was written for my older brothers wedding, it’s one of the most important songs I’ve ever written & I just hope people feel something when watching it.
