Jade Anastasia is a fairly new indie pop artist to hit the music scene. Hailing from Melbourne, Jade has been involved with music since 2014 where she has busking and performing locally and been involved in showcases and musicals.

Jade is now paving the way to build on her music career foundations as she is about to release her second single titled “I Like Your Taste”. This single follows on from her debut single “Quiet Euphoria” which was released in 2020 and featured on Triple J Unearthed.

If you are familiar with Jade’s first song, you are in for a treat with her new single “I Like Your Taste”. This latest single is livelier than “Quite Euphoria” which gives the listener a feel for the different styles and sounds that Jade can produce.

Not that dissimilar from other artists and songs, “I Like Your Taste” was born through the experience of heartbreak. The lovely thing about this song though is that this is the positive side of that heartache where you grow stronger from the experience and into a more confident version of yourself.

The song starts off with four short single notes before jumping into an upbeat tune and then straight into the first lyrics of “Not in the mood for love but I can see you are”.  Jade’s voice is smooth, and flawless as she effortlessly sings the lyrics and hits the higher notes in the song with a confident punch. The song increases in tempo and features long high notes as the song goes along, really driving the message of the lyrics home.

There is a moment in the song where it takes a quiet moment with the lyrics “I was looking for love, but you got in my way” repeated a few times before jumping back into the boppy tempo of the song. The song ends with the music stopping after the repeated lyric and on a strong last vocal of “I Like Your Taste”.

Jade wrote the song and initially produced it in her home studio. Jade says of the song ‘When I wrote the title lyric, it was this perfect wrap of the confident, flirty quip I wished I had in response to someone liking me. So, I repeated it, in the song, and in my head until it just became genuine self-assuredness’.

It is this self-assuredness and delivery of the lyrics that will have the listener bopping along to the catchy lively tune, singing along and, no doubt make this an anthem song for yourself for that confidence boost we all need from time to time.
