Warmth and golden-hued light emanate from Josh Lee Hamilton’s new single “Feels Like Fire”. The indie-folk song steps lightly as Hamilton revels in self-revelation as he makes a decision that affects the course of his life.
“Feels Like Fire’s” first embers took light during a conversation between Hamilton and his mum where she gave the singer much-needed clarity about his relationship with his partner. The singer was in a quandary deciding if he wanted to commit with a full heart and mind. Like most mums, her wisdom helped Hamilton to make a decision based on strength and truth. This realisation by Hamilton forms the basis of “Feels Life Fire”.
“I realized it was only my fears stopping me from taking the relationship further. The song is ultimately about that epiphany moment of realizing that you really do love someone more than you know.”

This truth roared to life like a wildfire and Hamilton harnessed that energy, and during his 2019 tour as he made his way through Margaret River, WA “Feels Life Fire” caught alight. Hamilton, an already recognised songwriter, having been awarded “Best Singer-Songwriter” at the NCEIA Dophin Music Award 2017 and 2019, has a deft hand at storytelling. There is a magical quality to the song as if it lives in the twilight. Maybe it’s Hamilton’s soothing vocals that exude comfort or maybe it’s the acoustic guitars and the addition of a banjo that makes the song sparkle. It’s the type of indie-folk that feels slightly elusive yet still renews the spirit. “Feels Like Fire” has the style of whimsy we hear in other artists like The Paper Kites and The Tallest Man On Earth.
This is a song that shows a man who has discovered the confidence to acknowledge his fears and despite this move forward with purpose. “Feels Like Fire” is serene because Hamilton feels peace, and that vibe comes through blissfully.

Josh Lee Hamilton’s
new single
‘Feels Like Fire’
is unafraid to glow

In the midst of a new season of being a father, Josh Lee Hamilton has been slowly crafting new songs over the last year. His upcoming single Feels Like Fire will be coming out in January 2022, the latest single in the lead up to his debut album.
Feels Like Fire was written after a conversation Josh had with his mother about his fears and uncertainty of committing to a relationship, her wise and honest counsel laying an ultimatum where Josh had to make a choice to end it or go to the next level.
‘It was in this low moment that I felt the grief of ending it, I realized it was only my fears stopping me from taking the relationship further. The song is ultimately about that epiphany moment of realizing that you really do love someone more than you know, as it feels like fire, even in the midst of fears and unknowingness.’ – Josh Lee Hamilton
The resulting song flickers with uncertainty before it radiates the strength of a decision anchored in truth, ascending into a blissful indie folk tune that signifies an emotionally present man unafraid to acknowledge his fears and grow beyond them. Feels Like Fire was recorded and produced by Josh during his 2019 tour around Australia, recorded during a stop in Margaret River at a holiday rental and further produced back at home, near Byron Bay – Garrett Kato recorded the drum sound in Josh’s mum’s country house living room. These serene locations imbue the song with a warm glow.
Josh Lee Hamilton has had a modest but notable acclaim in his music journey so far including: being played and featured on of Australia’s national youth radio station Triple J, Awarded “Best Singer- Songwriter” at the NCEIA Dolphin Music Awards in 2017 and 2019, and has amassed over 500,000 streams online. Josh’s music invokes references to a variety of artists such as Ben Howard, Ryan Adams, Gregory Alan Isakov and The Paper Kites.
“Never disappointment with this artist. Magic.” – Nkechi Anele, Triple J Radio
