He walked out from the back of the stage through a cascade of light, casually confident, black torn jeans, welcomed by an adoring crowd at Qudos Bank area.
He promised us he would “turn this joint into a utopian existence” and he delivered on that promise.
Keith Urban Monday night at Qudos Bank Arena 5 December 2022. He made a fan out of me.

Opening act Birds of Tokyo warmed up the crowd splendidly with their anthemic perfect pop songs. Frontman Ian Kenny was engaging and entertaining, encouraging the audience to sing and clap and when they played Lanterns, the arena impressively lit up with mobile phone lights. I thoroughly enjoyed their performance.
The changeover was slick; a train of black-clad t-shirts and shorts transformed the stage. Within minutes Keith appears from the back of the stage and he instantly has the audience engaged and mesmerized. The audience adores him. Singing along, and laughing with his jokes, he is so comfortable on stage. The arena becomes a small room, it’s personal, he holds our attention right til the end. A world-class star.

The show was, from start to finish, top-shelf excellence with no stones unturned. Stunning light show and backdrops, happy in sync band and Keith churned out the hits. He thanked Birds of Tokyo and called for applause for them. He brought up birthday girl, Summer from the Central Coast, to the stage for a selfie with him and made her night! He easily makes jokes, engages with the people, beams across the room, and leads the audience in song and dance……………… “ Let’s turn this Monday into a Friday!”
It was a night of big guitar solos, impressive AV, hit singles, surprise guest appearances (Amy Shark – stunning! Pink, recorded on the big screen), go pros on headstocks (we forgave the slight camera feed glitches.) I would highly recommend that anyone watches this show. Fans will love it, and non-fans will be converted.
