Putting gaslighters and heartbreakers in their place is the name of the game in Kevin Silvester’s latest single “Crywolf”. The Melbourne producer is back with another track off his forthcoming debut album and continues to reveal his deep affection for electronic dance and pop aesthetics.
The singer-songwriter is somewhat a boy marvel when it comes to music. Classically trained and writing music since he was a child, Kevin also taught himself music production leading the young artist to have achieved already several milestones all before reaching his twenties. “Crywolf” is another step in the right direction with the track being a playful outing in keeping your besties close as you face a sometimes harsh world.

“Crywolf” bounces along with an off beat keeping us popping off from verse to chorus. For this single Kevin collaborated with Melbourne producer 99finite and the result is a rollicking rhythm layered with synth samples that hits you with its punchy production. Much like the stylistic approach of producers DJ Swivel and DJ Snake, Kevin and 99finite have crafted “Crywolf” into a hypnotic dance track. A female vocal dominates the track but the song twists and turns with the addition of a rap break and male adlibs at key points in the song to build to an apex where “Crywolf” bursts with energy and release. This is the type of song that would become a darling of radio airplay if given a fair chance. If not there then it seems likely to find its fans from the digital platforms. Given that Kevin has already racked up 2 million streams on Spotify, “Crywolf” seems destined to be a significant release for the producer who is defining his sound as a surprising mix of liberating dance and electronica tunes.
“Crywolf” came out Friday 2nd of September and deserves a look in. With its polished, sparkling production and feel-good rhythm, “Crywolf” by Kevin Silvester is an exciting addition to the Australian dance-pop scene.
