There must be something in the air of rural Victoria as it appears to have provided the perfect setting and clarity for independent artist LACHYO to pen his latest single “Way To Kiss You”. Featuring a sweet melody, and a sense of deep longing from the persistence of memory in his lyrics, LACHYO has crafted a straight up gem of a song.
LACHYO has been hard at work on his forthcoming, as yet untitled album, and after the positive response to his last single “Say The Word”, LACHYO strives even higher with “Way To Kiss You.” Straying away from his original indie-rock roots, the singer/songwriter takes aim at alt-country rock with a broad stroke of indie-folk. The song took its form after LACHYO spent time living on a farm away from his girlfriend. That universal feeling of missing your loved one bleeds from “Way To Kiss You”. The song featuring acoustic guitars and a sparkling guitar riff plays like a song you might hear from The Paper Kites, being melancholic yet rooted in the romantic vibe that conveys an intense longing. LACHYO’s vocals match so well with the sentiment of the music and the accompanying horns give life to the song as it swells to a crescendo.
“Way To Kiss You” has been described as LACHYO’S foray into ‘nearly-Nashville’ and gives us a taste of what the flavour will be of his new album. Whilst it might be flirting with a Nashville-style, the end result is a familiarly Australian sound. He’s scored a goal with this one with “Way To Kiss You” showing a complexity to its arrangement which is flourished with pop motifs keeping the emotion of the song more optimistic rather than maudlin. If he keeps it up and produces more of this, LACHYO’s is going to be a name you’ll be hearing a lot more.
