Who’s ready for some movin’ and groovin’?

.

UK power girl group Little Mix are back hotter than ever with the release of their new track Bounce Back that is set to serve as the lead single off their upcoming sixth studio album. With numerous snippets and promotion being teased on each band members social media platforms as early as late May, the girls have given us hints to expect lots of colour and sass. Winning the X Factor UK in 2011, the girls have since given us five hit studio albums and are about to embark on their LM5 World Tour in support of their fifth studio album. The tour will undoubtedly feature their latest smash hits Woman Like Me featuring Nicki Minaj and Think About Us.

As soon as Bounce Back starts there’s almost a sense of nostalgia, as it sounds extremely familiar. The instrumental projects 90’s vibes with its r&b dance flavour, as well as incorporating their staple pop sound into the mix. The use of hand claps throughout the track puts a strong focus onto the lyrics, allowing the message of the track to be received clearly. As the tempo of the track remains quite consistent, Little Mix shake things up in the bridge by incorporating a trumpet which surprisingly works well with the upbeat track. With many sounds and genres coming together to create Bounce Back, its crisp versatility with get you up and dancing in no time.

“However do you want me,

however do you need me”

.

The track focuses on themes of lust and passion. Throughout these tongue and cheek lyrics, the girls tastefully seduce their lovers by singing about their desires and allowing them to take their bodies as they please. The chorus of the track will ring a bell with most listeners as it samples Soul II Soul’s 1989 smash hit Back To Life (However Do You Want Me), which is used as the tracks peak points. As the lyrics are sung exactly the same as the sample, the girls incorporate the tracks title Bounce Back to remix it into their own current, edgy 2019 version. As the track is quite fun and cheeky, it does not pull focus from the groups vocal ability that always manages to shine.

As it seems like these girls never stop working through projects after projects, a new track for a new studio album has definitely come as a surprise to me. However, Bounce Back has yet again proven the growth that Little Mix undergo year by year as they always come back with new material that is fresh and unheard of. As the girls get older, we see a transition of maturity as influences and experimentation of different lyrics and music genres have allowed them to recreate the bands image perfectly. If it’s anything like their past accomplishments, Bounce Back will be blasting on your radios in no time and as I smell another big hit for the girls right around the corner.

In need of some bounce? Little Mix have got you covered.
