“”Vicinity” is a song that succeeds in making the listener feel like their soaring”
Well known Sydney based singer/songwriter Lucy Burke is back with her new single “Vicinity”. The song is an upbeat dance tune that pulses with determination and buoyant hope that is likely to make you want to know much more about this versatile artist.
Burke is a seasoned artist who has played all over Sydney (including Sydney Football Stadium) and recorded in illustrious and famed studios like Abbey Road Studio in London and Hot Potato Studios in Sydney. Burke has always dived headfirst into many genres from jazz to funk, to acoustic pop and now her deft songwriting skills have bloomed into a foray in dance-pop. “Vicinity” is a song that succeeds in making the listener feel like their soaring. Inspiration comes from Burke’s unstoppable passion for pursuing creativity and recognising the undeniable need to do so.

“I’ve been down this road. Many times before. And it grows much longer. But if we look ahead. And if we step in time, we can cross the line.”
With that burning aspiration to succeed also comes the acknowledgement that no one gets there alone, and “Vicinity” also touches on the rewarding experience an artist gets from collaborating with other like-minded musicians. Banding together with others who are just as fervent for music writing can result in magic being created. “Vicinity” is catchy as it whisks us away on a fast-paced house beat. The light approach to the airy synths and the rhythmic beat gives the impression of being on an adventure, like driving with the top down on your car, wind whipping through your hair as you make your way to that point you can just see peeking over the horizon.
Burke’s production on the track imbues the song with not only a positive outlook but also her voice is incredibly charming. Lithe in some places and warm in others her vocals hit spot-on as you hear the optimism glowing from the song. If you want to feel a little joy, then seek out “Vicinity” available via all digital stores.
