Who’s ready for some new bass?

Grammy award winning pop influencer Meghan Trainor is back stronger than ever with her new single release No Excuses, which will serve as the lead single to her highly anticipated third studio album. After weeks of teases and hints, the songstress finally burst back onto the music scene with her new track accompanied with a new music video. Meghan rose to fame in 2014 with diamond selling single All About That Bass which has become one of the best selling singles of all time. After two successful albums Title and Thank You, along with hit singles such as Lips Are Movin’ and Me Too, the starlet is finally back from her musical hiatus to shake up pop culture once again.

The instrumental of the song automatically took me back to Meghan’s first album. After experimenting with new sounds throughout her second album, No Excuses will take you back in time to the songstress’ roots of bubbly pop and R&B beats. Its retro taste perfectly corresponds with Meghan’s iconic attitude that comes across extremely prominent in her artistry. Although the track is quite bouncy and funky, there are elements of country that can be heard throughout its verses which evidently features physical instruments mixed with electronic tempos.

The lyrics of this track touch on themes of sexism and empowerment. Meghan stated in an interview with Billboard that her new single is about “respect” and that “it needs to be heard right now — the world could use a song like this”. The artist sings about how there are no excuses for the way that a particular person is degrading her, as she pushes for feminism in this brutally honest and sassy track. There are quite a few lines throughout this track that will definitely be stuck to your brain, giving reassurance that No Excuses has that Meghan magic to give her yet another worldwide anthem.

There’s nothing take makes you feel more empowered and confident than a Meghan Trainor track. After recovering from vocal surgery over the past year, it has become quite noticeable that pop music has been missing that last piece of the jigsaw puzzle and thank goodness we finally have it back. With No Excuses already playing on replay in my head, I don’t think this track will have any issues in giving Meghan yet another worldwide smash hit. If we get that same energy and spark that the starlet has always been able to achieve, I think we may be heading down the track of another Grammy nominated album.
