““Let Me Go” encourages us to be more connected to the world and is done so subtly as it makes you rock to its infectious groove.”
Classic blues-rock and sentiments of renewal pulse through Mick Smith’s debut single “Let Me Go”. The songwriter from Melbourne unveils his sound with a song that harks back to the rhythm of alternative rock bands from the 1990s and as a first offering shows that with twenty years of experience behind him, Smith has something to say.
Smith revels not just into the hedonistic, good-time feel of “Let Me Go” but explores the notion of symbiosis between the mind, body and spirit to create the perfect alignment of oneself to achieve a desired state of flow. That’s the in-depth breakdown of “Let Me Go” in simpler terms it’s a song that promotes being conscious of ourselves and the world around us to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.
Singing about these themes against the arrangement of a song that is intent on delivering a message whilst rocking your socks off is no mean feat. Smith sings with a whole lot of personal passion, “You can you feel it now? Can you feel it well? Can you feel that feeling inside now? Can you feel that loving, get it down? ”. And the production oozes with jam-rock vibes giving off just the right amount of unpolished shine to deliver a song with a slight edge and plenty of spunk. “Let Me Go” was produced in Melbourne by the Doctor who’s been doing the rounds on the music scene for many years. His guidance allows Smith to still pay homage to those endearing 90s motifs whilst still conveying a sound that sounds fresh and entirely his own.
For a first single unveiled to the world, Smith positions himself as an artist who sings with conviction. “Let Me Go” encourages us to be more connected to the world and is done so subtly as it makes you rock to its infectious groove. Catch the song when it’s released in digital stores on Friday, 19th November.
