P1Harmony brought their World Tour [P1ustage H : Most Wanted] to Sydney on Saturday, August 23rd, following a two-day concert in Seoul. Australia was the first foreign country on their world tour, a treat for fans before they headed to Asia, North America, and Latin America. Although Sydney was their only stop in Australia, this marked the fourth time P1Harmony has visited our shores, with their last visit in July 2024, and the eagerness of fans had not wavered. Attendees were greeted at the venue gates by event organisers distributing posters and photo cards of the six members: Keeho, Theo, Jiung, Intak, Soul, and Jongseob.

Hordern Pavilion was filled with energy, and despite being an all-seated venue, the crowd was on their feet for the entire 2.5-hour show. This incredible sight demonstrated their dedication and passion, though it unfortunately meant that if you were not seated on a platform, it was quite difficult to see.

The concert kicked off at 8 PM with a series of explosive tracks including ‘Black Hole,’ ‘End It,’ ‘Look at Me Now,’ ‘Break Through,’ ‘Emergency,’ ‘DUH!,’ ‘Scared,’ and ‘Before the Dawn.’ P1Harmony, adorned in blue-grey leather suits, performed against a backdrop of electric stage visuals featuring scenes of space, asteroids, planets, clouds, fire, and hues of blue and red. After ‘Look at Me Now,’ they introduced themselves individually, greeted the crowd, chanted the classic ‘Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi,’ acknowledged the high energy, and encouraged more singing and dancing.

As they had released one EP, ‘DUH!,’ since their last tour in Sydney, the setlist did not vary greatly. However, the re-ordering of songs, new solo covers, and the different Sydney venue and layout (they performed at ICC in 2024, which included standing general admission) made it feel like a fresh experience. This also provided an opportunity for fans who hadn’t attended previous shows to witness their older songs live!

The crowd’s enthusiasm was consistently high throughout the show, with cheering, foot-stomping creating an almost-scary amount of shake and echo, and continued singing of songs even when P1Harmony stopped and the music faded. Fans sang Korean lyrics, imitated choreography from their seats, and more.

Following the powerful opening tracks, the members performed solo covers, showcasing their diverse musical tastes, distinct personalities, and versatility. Jiung delivered a vibrant and fun cover of Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’ in a snazzy purple suit, complete with Michael Jackson-like choreography and backup dancers.

Keeho performed a jazz version of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ under a spotlight, without backing vocals, choreography, or elaborate stage production to hide behind. This reimagined version was quite different from the moodier, more subtle original. It was unique, captivating, and solidified his vocal talent and dynamic range.

Soul presented a shorter but impactful and mind-boggling dance performance, further cementing his uniqueness, flexibility, and unmatched status as the group’s dance leader. This was followed by Intak’s high-contrast solo cover of Usher’s ‘Good Kisser,’ which brought a sexy energy as he wore a red leather jacket and performed floor work, accompanied by suited backup dancers.

Jongseob’s self-composed solo featured fast, hard-hitting rapping, haunting backing vocals, and an impressive, commanding stage presence. His contrasting visual style of a plaid tee and pigtail-styled hair was both interesting and cool. Theo unified the crowd with his cover of 4 Non Blondes’ ‘What’s Up?,’ playing the guitar and occasionally passing the mic to the crowd to let them lead, and lead they did!

After changing into all-white tracksuits, the subsequent songs included both older, high-energy classics like ‘JUMP’ and ‘Do It Like This,’ as well as tracks from their latest pop EP such as ‘Work,’ ‘BOP,’ ‘Flashy,’ and most notably, ‘Pretty Boy.’ “Pretty Boy” was undoubtedly one of the most memorable performances of the night. The pop song is catchy, but the crowd’s immense volume and their singing along to every word made it incredibly fun, prompting P1Harmony to stop, listen, and smile with pride and joy. The music paused here and after several other songs, allowing the group to hear the crowd sing and roar. The group also interacted frequently with the crowd, acknowledging signs and imitating fans’ dancing and movements.

After heartfelt speeches shared by each member, they left the stage for a few minutes and returned for a 6-song encore, with ‘Killin’ It” being the most notable and widely danced to.

Having attended two of P1Harmony’s three previous tours, I can confidently say they consistently deliver high-standard performances that highlight their versatility, individuality, and talents. As always, it was an incredibly fun show that the crowd will not forget, and as stated by P1Harmony, they won’t forget it either.
