The first sounds of track 1 ‘Comedown’ draw you in. The Melo synth sequence builds to a funky sound that gets you up and dancing. Summer is finally here ladies and Gentlemen. The summer and going on a holiday vibe is busting out of this record. Even when Parcels takes you to a calming place on tracks ‘Withorwithout’ and ‘Yourfault.’
Sounds of birds, Wind blowing, waves clashing and travelling on a plane through the air appear across the record. Delivering the symbolic feeling of you are travelling to someway. For Parcels It maybe on an air plane filled with feelings and thoughts.
‘ I don’t know if its your fault or my faults’ in ‘Yourfault’ and ‘I know how I feel now’ in ‘Iknowhowifeel’.
Lyrically the tracks are written with a catchy element to them, but if you listen closely there’s quite an elusive deeper meaning.
There’s one unusual element to Parcels debut LP which is their final track ‘Credits’ ft Dean Dawson. It’s not really a track at all. More like a thank you audio message from the captain in the cockpit. This track thank everyone that Parcels wanted to say thank you too for making their debut LP possible. It was quite a lovely unusual addition and in parts quite funny as the lines reflected passages getting off the air plane.
‘Hey Hey girl you forgot your luggage ‘.
Parcels self titled LP is a killer debut record. The production is flawless and before you know the record is over. Each track is infectious with its funky sound that take you back to the era of The Beach Boys and Steely Dan. While Parcels adds their own twist of mixing electronic and contemporary pop sounds. It’s an refreshing cup of tea that you just want to keep refilling.
