Rainie Zenith is colourful, fun and refreshingly authentic.

Hailing from Melbourne, singer-songwriter Rainie Zenith is serving up her debut album, Polychrome Renegade. Dropping August 14 – this album explores a diverse range of musical styles, from rock to jazz to EDM.

.

.

Let’s dive into each track and see what makes this album a standout.

Man You’re Bad (But I Am Worse)

The album kicks off with “Man You’re Bad (But I Am Worse),” and boy, does it pack a punch. From the get-go, you’re hit with high-energy rock vibes, complete with sharp, aggressive electric guitar riffs, and Rainie’s confident vocals. The drums are relentless, driving the song forward with a beat that creates an intense atmosphere. On top of that, Rainie belts out unapologetic lyrics with a confidence that’s nothing short of infectious as she embodies a fierce declaration of independence and resilience. She’s not holding back! The melody is super catchy, especially the chorus. You’ll be singing along before you even realise it. It’s bold, it’s brash, and the opener is the perfect way to grab your attention right from the start.

Piss-Soaked Ecstasy

Next up is “Piss-Soaked Ecstasy,” a frenetic piano-driven track that makes you feel like you’re caught in a wild whirlwind. The piano work here is hard-hitting, with rapid-fire notes that add a sense of urgency and chaos to the song. There’s a sense of urgency in Rainie’s vocals, but it’s raw and unfiltered, matching the song’s frenetic energy. The melody is unpredictable – it feels like it twists and turns in unexpected ways. Truly a unique song, its themes of reckless abandon and hedonism, perfectly encapsulated by the wild instrumentation. This track is a wild ride from start to finish.

Reasons To Hate Me

“Reasons To Hate Me” shifts gears toward pop, and it’s a refreshing change. It’s got a bright and infectious melody. The instrumental is polished and upbeat, with a catchy synth line that hooks you right from the start. It’s clear this song strongly highlights Rainie’s ability to craft a song. Her vocals are playful and sassy, delivering a defiant message to critics that go just beyond herself. In a world full of expectations of how to present or act, this track is a fun and empowering finger to all societal ‘norms’ and pressures placed on an individual.

PMS Anthem

“PMS Anthem” is a femme punk metal rage that channels raw emotion and aggression. This is where things get quite intense. The instrumental gradually becomes heavy and hard-hitting, with roaring guitars and thunderous drums. Rainie’s vocals are fierce and unrelenting with screams heard in the background. The song is intense. The melody is bold and powerful, with a chorus that feels like a battle cry. This track is an unapologetic expression of frustration and anger, and Rainie delivers it with all the fire and fury you could hope for.

Ugly Sometimes

Slowing things down a bit, “Ugly Sometimes” is a wistful folky acoustic ballad that showcases Rainie’s softer side. The instrumental is stripped back, featuring gentle acoustic guitar and subtle strings that create a tender, intimate atmosphere. Rainie’s vocals are heartfelt and vulnerable, delivering poignant lyrics about self-doubt and acceptance. The melody is delicate and soothing, with a chorus that feels like a warm embrace. This track is a beautiful and introspective moment on the album. It’s a chance to see her diverse musical style and her ability to evoke deep emotion with a strong message that “it’s okay to be ugly sometimes, because the person inside is always beautiful.”

Help Find Lost Cat

“Help Find Lost Cat” is one of the quirkiest tracks on the album. This song features horns, a cat, and eight key changes—yes, you read that right. The instrumental is quirky and playful, with a jazzy feel that sets it apart from the other tracks. The horns add a lively and whimsical touch, while the key changes keep the melody fresh and unpredictable. It’s charming and light-hearted, telling a quirky story that will bring a smile to your face. This track is a delightful and eccentric addition to the album, showcasing Rainie’s creativity and sense of humour. It’s fun, it’s unexpected, and it’s sure to be a fan favourite.

Pushing Thirty

“Pushing Thirty” is an ecstatic dance-pop banger that will get you moving, there is not doubt. The instrumental is energetic and upbeat, with pulsating beats and infectious synths that make you want to hit the dance floor. The track feels vibrant and full of life, capturing the excitement and anxiety of approaching a new decade. The melody is uplifting and celebratory, with a chorus that feels like a burst of pure joy. This track is a high-energy anthem that will have you dancing along and feeling good. It’s all about embracing where you are in life and finding joy in the moment.

Diddly Doo

“Diddly Doo” brings a funky jazz vibe to the album, and it’s got a pointed message to understand. The instrumental is smooth and groovy, with a slick bass line and jazzy horns that makes it feel cool and confident. The lyrics have a touch of sass but at this point, we expect it from Rainie. This track is a fun and funky moment on the album, blending jazz and pop influences seamlessly. It’s got style, it’s got groove, and it’s got something to say.

The Joy & The Pain

“The Joy & The Pain” is heartfelt and really tugs at the heartstrings. The instrumental is lush and emotive, with sweeping strings and gentle piano creating a cinematic atmosphere. Rainie’s vocals are tender and expressive, conveying the depth of emotion in the lyrics. The melody is hauntingly beautiful, with a chorus that allows you to resonate with it, deeply. This moving ballad showcases Rainie’s storytelling ability. It’s a beautiful exploration of the complexities of love, and it’s sure to leave a lasting impression.

Free Your Mind

Closing the album is “Free Your Mind,” a powerful and uplifting anthem. The instrumental is bold and dynamic, with soaring guitars and driving drums that create a sense of empowerment. Rainie’s vocals are inspiring and full of passion, delivering a message of liberation and self-empowerment. The melody is uplifting, with a chorus that feels like a rallying cry. This track is the perfect closer, to leave us feeling inspired. It’s a call to break free from whatever’s holding you back and embrace your true self.
