2018 is shaping up as a big year for Queensland trio, Scarlet Kill. After welcoming in the new year with a new sound heard through single, Nights Get Cold”, twins Will and Matt Tyler, along with younger brother Mitch, have recently released anthem track Warriors”. While Nights Get Cold set the band and their fans running for the year ahead, Warriors” sonically declares Scarlet Kill as a trio whose dedication and hard work toward their sound and craft are beginning to pay off.

With previous releases the band have perhaps struggled to find a sound that reflects them and the stamp they want to make on the industry, but with Warriors”, the trio have honed in on what works for them; powerful lyrics and authenticity.

Produced by ARIA nominated producer, Stuart Stuart, and premiered by Alternative Press, Warriors” shows a different side to the band. While slightly straying from their usual themes of love, loss and good times, the band show a vulnerable side to their songwriting by reflecting on their own experiences in the industry. From the song’s main themes of teamwork and warriors, it’s clear these lads are willing to share both good times and bad, while showing the meaning of dedication.

The track begins with an electronic beat, of a simple time structure resonating with the defiancy explored within the song’s lyrics. This beat is then followed by Will Tyler’s strong vocals of ‘This dream, this dream to wear the crown, to guide my way when the sun goes down,’ with this opening line alone summing up their demand to be heard. With lyrics and imagery that allude to both personal and physical battle, fans of Scarlet Kill (whether old or new) are sure to connect with the song: Despite the subject being personal to the band, their delivery and individual personalities give the track another dimension allowing it to reach a wider audience.

.

“Warriors. We are warriors, we are warriors, no one left behind. We are glorious, go down victorious.”

.

As a whole, Warriors stands out as a defiant track both lyrically and musically for Scarlet Kill. The band have created a catchy track that teases a new direction while sending out the importance of mateship and grind, while striving for the top. It’s an easy listener that shows their talent and growth while promising an interesting year ahead.
