How did you first get into music? How did your career first begin?
I come from a musical family, therefore music has been a very natural part of my life. After discovering I liked songwriting, I knew this was what I wanted to do with my life and it felt right. I moved to Melbourne after I finished school, got to know a great producer, Benjamin McCarthy and just been focusing on music work ever since.
.
What kind of music did you grow up on? How has your music changed since you started with violin and piano pre-teen?
I grew up with Norwegian old folk tunes as my father plays the accordion and that kind of music was always playing in our living room. I started playing folk tunes on violin, then couple of years later I fell in love with piano and a new style of music: classical music. I didn’t start writing my own songs until I was in my teens. My songs are obviously different from both folk and classical, as I get inspirations from pop stars like Michael Jackson. I just love how much you can express yourself through your own unique voice. It’s hard to compare my music to Norwegian folk and classical, those three types of music are so different from each other. However, I’m sure there’s something in it I’ve picked up and used in my own music.
.
How do you find the balance between your everyday life and your musical one?
It can be hard finding a good balance. I have a “normal job”on the side with “normal”9-5 hours. As a creative person, ideas can come at any time of the day and night. Music-related concepts and ideas are constantly on my mind, so I think I just try to get a break from both sometimes. I think this is healthy and helps me balance better.
.
You’ve just released your new self-titled EP. Always feels good to get the job completed, doesn’t it? Can you describe its origins and evolution? Any special tracks that mean more than others?
I think you always feel you could have done something different or improved something in a song, but it’s still nice to have it out and finished to be able to fully move on to something else. The songs in the EP are a collection of songs I’ve been writing from around 3 years back to pretty new tracks. The EP is a mix of tracks, there’s one very happy, laid-back song, two quite simple and honest songs, and then two dark, psychological tunes with complex arrangements. Big animals like wolves and lions fascinate me, you’ll find them both as inspirations in songs on the EP.
.
How do you see your sound progressing in the future? Who are and have been your inspirations?
I think my sound will become a bit more interesting, I’ve started to experiment with more percussion sounds and other types of instruments. I always aim for a great blend of acoustic and electronic instruments. I’d love to pick up more inspirations from the production in the music of Lykke Li and Alt J.
.
If someone had never listened to Tuva Finseras before, what song of yours would you recommend them?
I would say ‘Pack Of Wolves’ is a good one to listen to. The lyrics and instrumentation is very me.
.
It’s been a couple of years now. Where do you envision yourself to be in the next 3-5 years?
I’ve used the past years to find myself as an artist and develop my sound. Now that the EP is out, I will focus more on the business side of things and keep writing and releasing new stuff. In 3 years time, I hope I’ll be playing at large festivals and living off my music entirely.
.
Do you have any plans to tour the EP in 2018? Do you have any plans for an album?
Yes I’m definitely thinking of touring the EP but haven’t decided any definite dates yet. I have some plans for an album, but I’m gonna wait a little bit with it and focus on other things at the moment. I’d love to make more music videos.
.
If you could pick absolutely anyone to bring on tour with you, whom would you pick? (Dead or Alive)
I’d pick Michael Jackson of course! Well, I wouldn’t mind the Australian band Husky either.
.
Are there any venues or locations you aspire to play in the future? What are your major goals or milestones for the future?
Would love to play on some of the nice Australian festivals like Splendour in the Grass, Bigsound, Strawberry Fields or Laneway festival. Playing at Sydney Opera House would be the dream haha! I would also love to play some Norwegian festivals like Øyaand Palmesus. Hove Festival would be a major goal and of course on the roof of the Oslo Opera House.
.
Finally, this is a paragraph dedicated to some quick discovery. May sound corny, but for the fans, can you tell me your favorite album, artist, movie, place, drink, meal and person (living or dead) and some brief reasons why? Answer some or all please?
My favourite album is Dark Side Of The Moon, Pink Floyd. It’s not only an album, but a vivid, brilliant journey. My favourite artist is Michael Jackson because why not? Favourite movie is Catch Me if You Can, it’s built on an incredible story. I also love Lord of The Rings because I love adventure. Favourite place is my cabin in Norway, because the nature is incredible and it’s the most peaceful place I know with the nicest smelling air. Favourite drink is coffee, because I like the taste and the effects it has. Tea is also nice though!

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
