Following the launch of her debut single, Melbourne singer-songwriter TEAGAN is at it again with her sophomore release Safe. Inspired by the likes of Daughter, Maggie Rogers and Khalid, TEAGAN has cemented her place in bedroom pop with WickeddChildd calling her ‘incredibly powerful and stirring stuff’. Safe continues on with the light-hearted instrumentals and soothing vocals introduced in 2018’s It’s Okay as fellow Melbournite jay LOON provides additional production on this track, amplifying TEAGAN’s signature sound.

Safe pulls you in with delicate harmonies, dainty piano and soft sound effects lingering in the background. It’s juxtaposed with powerful imagery from the get-go, comparing love to a deep, intimate warmth. The heavy bass drum at the end of each verse lyric awakens you until Safe’s climactic chorus takes its reign. It throws you onto an angelic and intimate cloud nine with echoed percussion complimenting TEAGAN’s soothing falsetto.

Reminiscent of Billie Eilish’s Ocean Eyes, Teagan’s Safe provides a soft and intimate escape from the outside world. It’s the kind of bedroom pop that not only provides a sonic aesthetic but is incredibly moving with its combination of powerful lyrics and instrumentation. It’s raw, honest and soul-baring as TEAGAN exposes herself through this confessional track. TEAGAN is well on the road to becoming a household name, and Safe is a song that will catch you speechless by the end of its 3 and a half minute journey.
