The ultimate feel-good show is back in Australia and all are welcome to come to the pub and join in with the good vibes and the songs.
It was a balmy night in Adelaide just perfect weather for a full house at Gluttony’s MOA open air arena, a good night indeed to go to the pub. A welcoming soundtrack played whilst we took our seats including Joy Division, Iggy Pop and Bryan Adams as the performers took to the stage and we were greeted warmly as old friends. “Any one like a beer?” you bet we do! A large part of the crowd formed a relatively COVID safe queue as long handled beer paddles of Coopers were passed down from the stage, a top drop thanks gents!
The mock pub ‘The Jungle’ is a place where we are all going to have a good time. GnR’s “Welcome to the Jungle” is the first number that the choir belt out. To be honest I’ve never heard of a public house called ‘The Jungle’ but that doesn’t matter, this is big time musical meets popular pub culture. The choir are a bunch of talented musical types a blend of hipsters, muscle men, cool musicians and tap dancers plus the most unlikely acrobat in the form of the back flippin’ barman. They all come together at the pub to share life troubles, moments of sadness, humour and jokes and times of joy.

The show is a mix of high energy all singing and dancing concert meets karaoke pub night. The choir are engaging, the joviality felt real and engaging and the camaraderie genuine. This isn’t a show that relies on shock value or nudity or swearing it solely relies on good times and talent.
There are occasional moments of seriousness in between the boyish knock-about as one member of the group struggles with his break up whilst the rest watch the big game on TV.
The song choices on the whole work, we all sing along with John Farnham’s “You’re The Voice” without a care as though it actually meant something to us!
Overall I really enjoyed it and would recommend that you spend a night down the pub with a beer and a song whenever it is in a town near you!
My verdict – 4 out of 5
Playing Adelaide Gluttony until 21 March 2021 & Sydney Opera House until 04 April 2021
