The Colliflowers make light work of their sparkling latest release, “Nighttime Whispers”. The group who have a penchant for swirling genres to create tasty morsels of hooky original music, are completely in their element with “Nighttime Whispers”.
The quartet consisting of Gary Collocott (vocals, guitar), Rachael Goddard (drums), Nelson Ludeke (lead guitar) and Alex Pereira (bass) hail from the laidback, alternative culture epicentre Byron Bay. Relatively new, the band only performed their first live gig a year ago but they have since gone on from strength to strength. “Nighttime Whispers” signals the band’s progression in their creative sound and also reveals a side of the band that is reflective of their diverse tastes. The single is a heady mix of roots, rock and reggae. From the lazy, swagger of the rhythm to the punchy bass line that’s punctuated by Gary’s sweet vocal, “Nighttime Whispers” casts a mesmerising shadow.

The song is remarkably polished giving the production a big bold sound that sounds ripe for the summer festival season. In fact, this song is the perfect addition to anyone’s summer playlist, eliciting images of warm sunny days spent with friends. “Nighttime Whispers” is so accessible, fans will find something to look at in different elements of the song. Displaying shades of Ocean Alley’s hooky melodies to the storytelling of Sam Fender and the infectious pop-driven groove that hints at one of their creative inspirations – the Eagles.
There must be something in the water in Byron Bay with its ability to produce so many eclectic artists. The Colliflowers are making their way forward through the crowded space with music that vibrates with their energy and passion for songwriting and performing. With more live shows on their schedule and new music on the horizon, with “Nighttime Whispers”, The Colliflowers is growing into a musical force that can’t be ignored.
