Influenced by 70’s and early 80’s Rock, The Dead Daisies sound is soulful and accessible – equal parts of Aerosmith, Bad Company and Foreigner: muscular vocals, bluesy riffs, big choruses, powerful melodies and strong hooks. With stellar musicianship and pulverizing live shows, fans worldwide are discovering the band that is bringing back Rock!
The current incarnation of The Dead Daisies features guitarist Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), singer John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream), bassist Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake), drummer Deen Castronovo (Journey, Bad English, Hardline), and rhythm guitarist David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink).
Since exploding onto the scene in 2013, The Dead Daisies have taken the music world by storm, releasing three studio albums and a live album to date and touring with some of the biggest names in Rock including: ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, Judas Priest, KISS, Whitesnake, Def Leppard and the Hollywood Vampires as well as headlining shows around the world playing at prestigious rock festivals such as Download UK, Hellfest France, Graspop Belgium, Sweden Rock and the Wacken & Bang Your Head Festivals in Germany.

Burn It Down is their recent album and we got the chance to give it a listen and give YOU the run down.
John Corabi has said of Burn It Down,
“I’m extremely excited about our new record ‘BURN IT DOWN’! It was a pleasure to once again work with Marti Frederiksen and the band on what I believe is the next great step in The Dead Daisies journey. This is a balls-out old school rock record!!! Enjoy it, and see you all on our massive 2018 world tour!!!!”
Guitarist Doug Aldrich adds,
“The new Daisies album will melt your face! It is raw and in-your-face with a whole new sound!”
Produced by Marti Frederiksen and mixed by Anthony Focx. With all of the songs written by the producer and band members. It is a real moment captured in time for The Dead Daisies.

Resurrected is the opening track of Burn It Down and it packs a punch opening with heavy guitar and vocals. This song screams classic rock ‘n’ roll and lets fans know they are back with a vengeance with lyrics like, “From the ashes, from the flame. I’m here to light the fire again. I’m back, resurrected!” screamed over the top of the heavy electric guitar.
The second track of Burn It Down is ‘Rise Up’. The song starts-off again with a heavy electric guitar with Corabi singing overtop, “Children its time, we all recognise. With each passing day, the word’s full of anger and hate.” A seemingly bleak message but as it breaks into the chorus the feel of the music lightens and the lyrics become more empowering with, “Rise up out of the deep. The time has come to rise up, wake from your sleep.” ‘Resurrected’ and ‘Rise Up’ will both give the listener feelings of strength, power and rock ‘n’ roll.
Track three is ‘Burn It Down’, the title of the album, and by now the album is well and truly on the path to being a hardcore, classic heavy rock album. David Lowy and Doug Aldrich on the guitars for the band are the backbones to the first three tracks making sounds with the guitars that only those with years of practice can do. ‘Burn It Down’ is a message for anyone who wants to change their life path and just burn all the bridges of their past. John Corabi on lead vocals sings the lines,
“You’ve always had a plan to try and change. But the outcome always stays the same. You’ll wear the thorns that make your crown. Until you strike that match and burn it down, yeah!”
The album so far has an overall theme of the strength of coming back from adversity, having the courage to make a change, and keeping a “fuck this” rock ‘n’ roll attitude along the way!
‘Dead and Gone’ is probably my favourite track of the record. It has all the 80s inspired classic rock elements, with traces of psychedelic rock sounds throughout. Toward the end of the album, I can hear the band begin to experiment. It feels as if the album setlist is purposeful with the beginning starting with the comeback classic rock songs, and then it moves toward psychedelic rock and rock-ballads.

This rings true when listening to ‘Can’t Take It Without You’ which slows down in tempo and calms down the mood. This song feels much more of a romanticised confessional and leans slightly more toward a ballad than any other of the tracks on the record. I like that they include a song a bit more sombre than the others, but with as much relevance and relatability as the other songs.
Last, but certainly not least, is the surprise bonus track at the end which if anyone knows a little band called The Beatles they will know the lyrics. The Dead Daisies have put an absolutely epic classic rock twist on The Beatles 1968 classic ‘Revolution’, which is fitting for the rise from the ashes theme that runs throughout this album. I already loved this song but The Dead Daisies made me fall in love with it all over again and for completely new reasons. The arrangement had that powerful Dead Daisies energy behind it while staying true to that psychedelic-rock feel of the original, and adding a few guitar solos in for good measure.
“You say you want a revolution. Well, you know. We all want to change the world. You tell me that it’s evolution. Well, you know. We all want to change the world.”
With Burn It Down newly released and a WORLD tour to follow The Dead Daisies just might…
