For lovers or romantics or even those in infatuation indie-rock band, The Groundswell are here to soothe your bleeding heart with their new single “Unrequited Love”. The relatable song is a ripper of a track that explores the uncertainty and thrill that electrifies us all when we fall for someone.
The band from East Melbourne/Naarm have been making a name for themselves and steadily increasing their name with each release and their new offering, “Unrequited Love” will surely keep their star rising. It’s a song that carries at its heart a heavy sentiment but in that classic sardonic Aussie way, musing about love with a breezy, bittersweet mindset. “Unrequited Love” shimmers with a coastal mood it’s a surf-rock, indie-pop song that still sounds like it’s coming out of someone’s garage. That can be attributed to the collaborative approach taken on the song with the group teaming up with Studio Truth’s Curtis Hatton and Hot Bias Recording Studio’s Lucas Tozer. The group was able to lay down a live recording giving “Unrequited Love” a visceral texture that comes off as an authentic example of what The Groundswell are creatively about.

“Unrequited Love” is not pulling any punches with its fuzzy guitar riffs and that characteristic surf-pop punk drum part. Summery and bright, it’s the type of song perfect for twilight backyard parties or driving in the car with your bestie singing through relationship dramas with lines like, “I can’t make it out of here unless you tell me what we’ve done.” “Is it unrequited love? Or when did you start giving up.”
With “Unrequited Love”, The Groundswell show they have a lot to say about life and love. The song will be released to the masses on Friday 11th March but before then they’ll be showing the single a lot of love with a single launch at The Evelyn on the 4th March.
