Coming off a stint of massive Falls Festival main stage shows across Australia and an impressive Triple J Hottest 100 result (Number 16). The Brisbane Foursome ‘The Jungle Giants’ brought their Used To Be In Love tour to Melbourne’s 170 Russell.

The Jungle Giants entered the stage to be greeted by a massive applause and screams. The Brisbane band kicked off the night with a bang.
We were greeted to the band walking onstage to the sound of rambunctious cheering before the band swiftly transitioned into their first songs of the night, “On Your Way Down”, one of the band’s more recent singles. Getting everyone hyped with their loud and energetic indie/dance music. Bass player Andrew’s erratic dancing, while sometimes laughable, radiated joy.
Setting the scene for what was to come, the band powered through their next few hit tracks “She’s A Riot”, and “Anywhere Else”. The three LED cubes in the background really added a little something extra to the otherwise bare stage.

My personal favourite “Quiet Ferocity” came about quite early in the set. The upbeat anthem had everyone dancing and singing along. At this stage I wondered whether the band could keep up this energy. During the track “I Am What You Want Me To Be” the crowd was jumping around so much I was worried for the structural integrity of the floor!
With little to no breaks in between songs, the band moved through their set in what felt like a heartbeat.
The band powered though the rest of their set playing many tracks off their first album. Closing their set with the bands latest single “Used To Be In Love” the crowd was singing along to every single word.
The band followed up their explosive performance with an encore of ‘People Always Say’ & ‘Feel The Way I Do’. As much as I love this bands music, it truly is made to be heard in a live capacity. The studio album just can capture the ‘big’ feeling you get when you experience these tracks live.
