About THE OPINION INDUSTRY

Sydney based Alt Rock newcomers The Opinion Industry are a well-built juggernaut pushing out an energetic fusion of Metal, Punk and Hard Rock. The band comprises of Benj Axwel (Vocals/Guitar), Cruisy (Drums) and Ben McDonough (Bass/Vocals).

Their diverse sound is for fans of System Of A Down, Rage Against The Machine and
Incubus. Having played for many years in successful Australian bands like Sleight Of Hand and Code Atlantic, the three close and respected friends have decided to come out of hiding and make a big impression together in the new digital age with something to say.

Coming out of Sydney, The Opinion Industry are ready to shake you down with their spirited take on metal, punk and hard rock. Comprising of three friends who have gigged together in other bands like Sleight of Hand, the trio decided to join forces to deliver alt-rock for those who want to feel empowered by music again. Their debut single, ‘Opinions’ barrels out of the starting gate as a searing commentary on the polarisation that has stifled the way we relate to each other.

‘Opinions’ cracks open the state of discourse in an age that has been gripped by the predilections of commentators and self-proclaimed internet journalists espousing their agendas in our social media age. The pursuit of truth has become secondary to spin and speculation. The group describe the song’s inspiration as “our collective arrogance, cancel culture and the online entitlement complete. We are now fully connected through our words and have access to anything we want, all the time – and it is apparent these changes are hurting us.”

‘Opinions’ has a big sound. Brash, tinged with anger and a barely contained feral attitude. Countering all that is the melodic voice of Benj Axwel that dives under the waves of a blistering arrangement from Cruisy on drums and Ben McDonough on bass. If you like your Karnivool, System Of A Down or Deftones then you’ll vibe with this song – for all its audacious bravado The Opinion Industry performers with a strong hand whilst still lulling us with a musicality that allows them to deliver their message like cut glass.

From here The Opinion Industry is intent on keeping the momentum going with the scheduled release of their debut EP, which was produced by Mitta Norath at Tommirock Studios, later this year. For their first release, this is a powerful announcement that The Opinion Industry has arrived and they will not be muzzled in sharing their views on the inequities of this world.
