“By necessity, Proper Dose finds the quintet taking several bold steps forward. Its a record that might just raise as many eyebrows and hackles as it will fists, taking its musical cues from artists like The Beatles and Oasis, while redefining who and what The Story So Far are.” – KERRANG!

No one can do raw emotion quite like them and “Andrew Fishers vocals and passion is unwavering, and the singer’s ability to dissect his darkest thoughts makes this album their most personal work to date.” – Upset Magazine

Canadian rockers, The Story So Far and UK five piece Basement are touring Australia for their co-headline tour throughout April. With the Adelaide show selling out a few days before and the band now halfway through their tour, this Easter Monday gig was going to be a good one!

Adelaide four piece band, Madura Green opened the night. Once they began playing, the room was already nearly packed out! They started with some soft melodic songs and moved onto some jumpier and punkier songs with all the band singing or yelling along. Drummer, Henry’s yells really blended well with Jordan’s lead vocals. They finished with their latest single release, Doghouse which the crowd really seemed to enjoy.

Next up was Sydney touring band, Endless Heights. The band put so much energy into their performance; jumping around the whole stage and making the crowd get into their set! It was hard not to enjoy their music with vocalist, Joel Martorana getting crazy into the music and flipping his hair around. They covered Head Over Heels by Tears for Fears and said it goes out to everyones mum and dad. Joel jumped into the pit for the crowd to sing the last song back to him, with the whole crowd jumping along.

Co-headline band, Basement played next. The UK five piece recently released their latest album Beside Myself, late last year. Cheering began the second the first guitar strummed and the band stepped on the stage. The fans moshed and crowd surfed as they played their songs. Flashing lights; jumping; head banging; Basement were really getting into their set and they didn’t leave anything behind.

“That was enough awkward silence, this is a song” – vocalist Andrew Fisher

So many shoes flying into the air from crowd surfers and one from a guy just holding it up. Cool electro-beat breakdown for one of their songs; For You The Moon. They played some old songs from their 2011 EP; Fading and Crickets Throw Their Voice, and the fans still knew every single word. Some crowd favourite songs were Pine, Covet and Spoiled. These really got the fans jumping around and singing along.colour me in kindness, cover me with love, I am blessed

They finished with Whole then left the stage to make way for the final band.

The Story So Far were last to play on the night. Five piece California band who recently released their new album Proper Dose; fans were eager for them to start. They began with Empty Space which got the crowd pumped. Vocalist, Parker Cannon paraded around the stage with his hands in his pockets, keeping his cool persona throughout the set. They played some new songs but still kept in the fan favourites and most well-known songs; including Things I Can’t Change and The Glass.

Parker was so happy the second he stepped on stage and saw the massive crowd. He was also so thankful to everyone for coming out; you could tell he has his dream job.

They slowed it down to play one of their newest singles, Upside Down and everyone grabbed their phone lights to wave in the air. They then got the acoustic guitar out for Take Me As You Please. “Hazy, lazy, burning through my trees”.

Heavy Gloom got the whole crowd yelling, jumping and had so many people crowd surfing. They finished with Nerve and said they wouldn’t do an encore because it’s fucking lame.

Even though it was a co-headline, it was obvious everyone was there to see The Story So Far. All the bands put together an awesome gig that let the crowd mosh and jump around to all their songs. The Story So Far were so thankful and happy with the night. It was also their first time playing a bigger venue in Adelaide and they sold it out easily. Make sure to catch them with Basement as they tour to Melbourne and Perth later this week!
