Who’s ready for some double trouble?

.

Australia’s favourite pop duo The Veronicas are back to take on 2019 with a bang with the release of their new track Think Of Me. The sisters have teased the new single upon its release all over their social media platforms, giving us exciting new visuals and aesthetics. Duo Jess and Lisa rose to Australian prominence in 2005 with the release of their catchy first hit single 4ever. Fast-forward 14 years; the sisters have released three super successful studio albums with numerous number ones and hits, including Untouched, You Ruin Me and In My Blood. Always keeping their image edgy and fresh, there’s never any denying that what the girls cook up next will triumph.

The soft intro of the instrumental immediately gave me John Hughes 80’s vibes as if this type of sound would be featured in one of his movies as that big moment. As the beat begins to progress, we hear subtle trickles and new sounds developing which then leads into the after chorus drop. As Think of Me develops, the tempo becomes faster paced and it starts to bring it full circle to a 2019 kind of sound, almost as if the track progressed from decade to decade. All in all, the instrumental incorporates soothing sounds and elements to perfectly match the message the sisters are trying to portray, whilst putting your brain into a reflective mode.

“Do you think that she’s the one,

Or do you just pretend?”

The lyrics of this track focus on themes of love and loss. For the majority of this track, The Veronicas sing about reminiscing on memories with their ex lover and wondering whether their replacement is as good as them. Although they don’t seem to show any regret in their past relationship, they sing about how leaving it has brought them self worth. They highlight how it’s been a certain amount of time since they left, but in that exact amount of time is when they’ve finally felt whole, and I think those genius lyrics hit hard. With no surprise, the sisters boast incredible vocals in Think Of Me as they always range effortlessly in between the subtle and the high notes.

As The Veronicas have really experimented and created new sounds for their music over the years, we can see a similarity between In My Blood and Think Of Me. They demonstrate how a simple structure along with a staple beat really gives them that purity over other artists. Their indie looks along with their chic like personas gives the duo that fire that first ignited their individuality 14 years ago. Think Of Me explores a more mature side to the sisters and it will without a doubt be left echoing in your head for days to come. If it’s anything like their past track record, I think it’s safe to say the starlets have another hit on their hands. Get ready for the Australian comeback of the year.
