“Who I Am”, the sixth single from indie rock band To The Skies is a bold declaration of self-acceptance, empowerment, and rebellion. The track is a powerful rite of passage for the band, with its cathartic and exhilarating release that inspires listeners to speak up, stand up, and be true to themselves. The rocking track signals the next phase is the band’s tumultuous journey through their 20s in a post-pandemic world.

In 2020 the trio burst onto the music scene with their breakout single, “Echo”, and then the pandemic hit. Estrangement from management in 2021 and their bittersweet single “Screw The Situation” summed up the past couple of years for the band. It’s been a hard slog but with “Who I Am”, it finally seems the group from Queensland have captured a little bliss in their lives. The song comes in roaring with an uplifting guitar riff before unfurling with the optimistic rhythm of the drums and the bright synths that pave the way before Lockie Farr croons like a man who has a revelation to be told. “Who I Am” pulses with an enthusiastic tempo that conveys a gusto for life that pours out of the song. At its core, “Who I Am” is a declaration of self. Despite all the BS of the last few years and the challenges of living through your 20s, those challenges have only toughened the resolve of the group to stay true to themselves and their music.
“I’m running around, I can’t be found, don’t me, tell me now, who I am.” Farr calls out like a man running towards his future that peeks out over the horizon. With a bridge that soars with the might of a stadium song, “Who I Am” makes its mark in the best way possible. This is a song for when you’re feeling unsure in your life and you need something to tell you it’s all going to be okay.
