Sanniawho has just dropped her breathtaking new single Go And Get Over, a strikingly vulnerable track that documents the trying and slow process of moving on.

To accompany this stunning track Sannia has also announced a clip, directed by Giulia McGauran (Alex Lahey, The Rubens, Meg Mac). It’s the perfect reflection of the track; minimal, but beautifully shot, with repeated motion and perceptive editing working together to deliver a stark message about the vulnerability of starting over.

Last Goodbye by Jeff Buckley

“Songwriting and production aside, the sheer vocal ability of Jeff Buckley in this track is simply ridiculous. You can’t help but feel alive and completely immersed by his energy and effortless navigation of the melody. The song seems to progress through moods and emotions, completely forgoing standard pop song formats, and instead, running with the vivid imagery of Buckley’s lyrics. Too often vocalists will forgo technique to show emotion or vice versa, this recording is the perfect balance between the two.”

Tears Dry On Their Own by Amy Winehouse

“Until I heard this single, I thought it was impossible to showcase genuine emotional vulnerability in an upbeat song but you can literally hear the pain and disappointment in Amy’s voice in every phrase. I love that juxtaposition between her total defiance in the face of rejection and the energy of the rhythm section, and the way she changes from addressing the antagonist in this story in the verse to talking about him in the chorus as though you can feel that shift yourself, that he has, in fact, walked away.”

One Crowded Hour by Augie March

“I first heard this song when I was in year six and it’s funny now looking back that the song felt relatable even to an eleven year old, but I think that’s the hallmark of great writing. My tiny former self was about to head into high school, and I had a lot of instability going on at home and with the song being about a moment in time, an hour of clarity was almost calming to me. It’s the kind of song that I’ve never failed to sing along to when I hear it on the radio, and even after 12 years I still know all the words.”

Royals by Lorde

“Royals washed over the industry like fresh water and it felt as though everyone stopped for a minute to take it in. It was almost as if Lorde’s total rejection of popular culture coupled with unconventional production for the time was the breath of fresh air the local music industry needed. Personally, I think Lorde is one of the most important young artists of our time.”

Amazing Grace by Lucy Mason

“I’m still just as in love with this beautiful cover as I was the day I first heard it on television. Lucy was so creative about how she approached such a culturally significant melody by reshaping it with sparse production, largely acapella harmonies and the slow introduction of strings and synth. The kind of song that has a meaning and association for everyone was completely reimagined as a whole new composition. It completely blew my mind.”
