Five studio albums down the track and the distinguished career of Bob Evans receives the Best Of treatment via new album, Full Circle, to be released on October 5. Full Circle features a brand new single, Drowning and is accompanied by a video filmed in studio by Arlo Cook during the recording of the track. To celebrate the release, Bob Evans will hit the road for a national capital cities tour kicking off at Black Bear Lodge in Brisbane on October 19, and moving through to Sydney, Adelaide and Perth, before finishing up at Northcote Social Club in Melbourne on November 3.
Discussing Full Circle, Kevin Mitchell explains,
“I didn’t want to approach this like a traditional Greatest Hits or Best Of. I like the idea of it being presented more like an introduction to my work if you had never heard of me. This would be the record for that person. So I didn’t want to just bundle the singles together or present the songs in the order they were released. Some singles didn’t make the cut, in favour of album tracks that have grown legs of their own and found some kind of special place of significance without ever necessarily being on the radio or anything. Wintersong, for example, off my third album, was never on the radio or well known but I just love it so much I wanted it on there. There were a few songs I felt like that about but obviously I couldn’t put them all in. It was quite hard actually, trying to narrow 5 albums down to 14 tracks. But I’m happy with how it looks. I’m proud of what I’ve managed to create.”

Power of Speech from Goodnight.
Bullcreek! It’s one of my favourite songs I’ve recorded and the only bossanova song I’ve ever written. I’m really proud of it but there were already a few mellower songs that just pipped it to the post. But I’d love for more people to hear it as it’s a pretty major deep cut.

Go from Familiar Stranger.
It was the second single from that album. It even had a really silly video made for it where Tim Rogers makes a cameo as my arch nemesis. But I chose a non single in its place in Wonderful You because it’s a live favourite.

Brother, O Brother from Goodnight.
Bull Creek! It was the fourth single from the album but I chose Wintersong instead cos it’s a personal favourite that was never a single or played on the radio or even played live at all. I want people who don’t know the song to hear it.

Friday Come Five from Suburban Kid.
I felt like just one song from my first album should make it on to Full Circle and I went with Turn instead of Friday Come Five which was actually the first single. I like the song but I think Turn is probably a better example of what Bob Evans was in 2003.

Not Fair.
My Lily Allen cover that I recorded for triple J has become more well known than most of my own songs. I knew it would get a reaction when I recorded it but I was surprised by how much of a reaction it ended up getting. The comments on youtube are priceless! I thought it might be cool to have a non album track on Full Circle but instead did a covers album that comes with the CD or the digital down load.
