Wild Nights came back to visit Sydney on Saturday night at Big Top Luna Park. With a crazy lineup including international DJ Sash!, DJ Aligator, N-Trance, Love INC and Cascada. Joining the world known acts were Australia’s own DJ’s Nick Skitz and Kidd Kaos.
Every gig starts off pretty damn well when you are entering a venue like Big Top at Luna Park. The positive vibes in the air created by the people laughing, the corny theme park music and amazing Vivid city lights helped start the night off perfectly. As soon as I stepped foot into the venue it instantly took me back to those simpler Wild days. With a somewhat more ‘mature’ crowd, it was clear that majority of the audience were there to reminisce on their heavy past rave days or just on their love for some old school wicked dance tracks.
DJ Aligator was by far one of the main highlights of the nights. Hearing Blow My Whistle live was insane. Whistles were thrown into the pit and the involvement of the crowd exceeded to another level. Love Inc’s very own Simone Denny entered the stage and gave off a really fun vibe while singing All Things, as she invited audience members on stage to join her.
Once DJ Sash hit the stage, that Eurodance music vibe filled the room. I for one was taken back to those Video Hits days where I watched Adelante on repeat. The backdrop included video footage of DJ Sash’s tours over the past 15 years as he played some of his original beats created in 1997.
The performance gave off more of a concert vibe rather than a party dance vibe. Each artist was introduced and were welcomed by the crowd. While I thought it was necessary to acknowledge them, it was as though the vibe was interrupted by the constant pauses. The audience were ready to get their rave on and you could sense the eagerness to get back into it. The lack of strobe lights and lasers made the night feel tamed, in saying that, there was a smoke machine which amped up the crowd every now and then. To be fair, when the tracks were being played, the audience went wild. It didn’t take away from what the night could have been as it was clear that everyone was there to reminisce on the sounds that brought dance music to what it is today.

Cascada was one of the final acts and she was full of energy and gratitude. After playing her hit songs Everytime We Touch, she thanked the audience for bringing her to Sydney as it was her first performance in town. Aussies DJ Nick Skitz topped off the night with tracks that may have been missed from all of the previous acts and he brought out some beauties from the past. It finished the night off perfectly. No interruptions, just insane track after track. Walking out of Wild Nights Tour on a complete high, I felt as though all of my favourite dance tracks from the past were reintroduced. If you couldn’t get enough of those Wild Volume albums back in the day and want to relive it live, I wouldn’t give this one a miss.
