The world is a murky place for Wingfield and their latest single “Just Like You” is tinged with rueful introspection and a sense of aimless hope for comfort. The quartet from Adelaide go big in this song that rolls in like an emotional wave to crash over us with the force of alternative rock.

First off, “Just Like You” is an indulgently sumptuous rock track, it’s “go big or go home” for Wingfield as they project their feelings of desperation and loss. The song’s themes convey the changing of seasons for someone who has lost their way, who feels that they have been a fool to their weaknesses and now are paying the price. It’s a heavy theme that never feels too dark, if anything there is a bloom of liberation that builds through “Just Like You”. From the rising guitar riffs and drums that tumble into a power chorus to the lingering guitars that rumble through the verses, this song swoops in peaks and troughs in an enthralling journey.

For Wingfield, “Just Like You” signals an intentional creative turn for the group who recorded the rock song at Twin Earth studios under the creative eye of Cameron Lockwood. Branching away from their debut single “Wingfield Blues”, this new single was the band’s pursuit at developing their songwriting and sound. To that end “Just Like You” is a success showing us another shade to a band still quite new to the Australian music scene. Its unhurried tempo and fearless production show that this is a band willing to take creative risks and embrace ambitious ideas with rich rock elements.

“Just Like You” is due to crash land on you on Friday 18 November and should further garner the attention of fans of rock music with a penchant for affecting sonic soundscapes.

‘Just Like You’ will be released to Digital Stores on November 18th
