“This is leisure pop meets smooth funk!” – Dave Ruby Howe, triple j Unearthed
“….you’ve managed to steer this into a zone that I can only describe as likeable. Glad you listed Daft Punk as an influence, because I can hear a slight French touch here too.” – Richard Kingsmill, triple j
“veering between stylings of hip-hop, electronica and pop to create a mix that feels like something in-between it all, brought together by a uniting sense of freeing euphoria” – Pilerats

Melbourne-based, genre-bending, creative chameleon Powloh has released his Cold Summer Paradise EP, fusing a unique blend of French electronic, funk and hip hop with a splash of disco.
The EP showcases Powloh’s versatility as an artist, drawing on musical influences from Daft Punk, Kaytranada,, Jamiroquai, Nile Rodgers, and Channel Tres to name a few, as well as his affinity to combine music with visual storytelling.

Today Powloh offers his latest funk-laden track ‘In Our Own Time’, written from a place of nostalgia and reminiscent of Daft Punk’s 2013 album Random Access Memories.
Throughout Powloh’s creative journey, nostalgia continues to be an ever-present muse in both his music and art. Powloh shares that “the longing feeling of nostalgia is something I experience a lot, especially when sharing stories and reminiscing on memories from my past. Listening to this song it almost feels like a conversation, and quite often when I write music I tend to think of a person in my life or I might even just talk to myself, which is what I did for this particular song.”
Previous releases ‘Paris Green’ and ‘Coupla Miles High’ offered an early insight into Powloh’s penchant for pulsing basslines, dazed melodies and catchy grooves which are carried the whole way across the six-track EP.
“When I wrote this EP I was signed to a record label, and it was the first time in my career I truly felt I had support and belief in my art. Unfortunately, the people who brought me in and were championing my vision left. Following this a decision was made by the label that my music did not align with them genre wise, and they let me go. So, I was back to being on my own again, alone, trying to figure out how to release this music I had worked so hard pouring myself into.” – Powloh
After a lot of self-reflection and the realisation that he had already created a completely DIY body of work, Powloh decided to release the EP independently – “I thought what’s really stopping me from releasing this independently?”. This release carries deep significance for Powloh, who aspires for this EP to be more than music “I am super proud that it’s coming out this way because, like everything you hear and see on this EP, it’s all me. I hope this EP brings hope to other artists or even people who feel like they don’t fit in anywhere and those that might feel alone or like they’re up against the world.”
With his songwriting telling stories from his colourful life, the Philippines-born, Melbourne-based musician who in his humble beginnings started as an artist and painter – is also responsible for all of the visuals you see surrounding his music through his creativity and filmmaking. A jack of all trades out to master at least some, the genre bending artist with a disregard for staying inside the lines is an outlier and a misfit just wanting to make his mark on the world.
Armed with an array of vintage synth sounds, warm guitar tones and syncopated bass lines intertwined with drum grooves that make you want to move, the DIY artist is out to show the world what can be done by one person alone.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
