Planted amidst a synth bed of dark brooding textures, a driving drum beat and funky bass groove – the haunting poetic vocals pull the listener through the pulsing track with the evocative lyrics touching on themes of torment, survival and strength obtained through adversity.
The actual term ‘Paris green’ refers to a highly toxic pigment containing arsenic that was used by artists and fashion designers in the 19th century. The song’s chorus, with its haunting refrain of “paint it Paris green,” creates the image of painting something with this beautiful yet deadly pigment.
Discussing the latest single Powloh says, “I wanted the groove of the song to almost distract from what’s being said in the lyrics. Capturing the feeling of being vulnerable and powerful at the same time, like having all of this bad stuff happen and coming out the other end a little messed up but overall indestructible.”
A true DIY artist, from the production to the instruments, the songwriting and vocal performances, to the mixing and video/creative visuals, Powloh shares the visuals to his latest single. The clip authentically represents his creative prowess as he performs with every instrument, as well as being the director, editor, actor, and visionary behind it all.
Powloh describes the process, “I made this music video with my partner Meags and we filmed it on an old Sony VX2000 video camera, a camera most known for its use in filming skate videos. We did the set design in our dining room and I designed the lighting. This was our first time doing set design and programming lights so the whole thing was a huge learning experience.”
Drawing on inspiration from D-grade 80’s films, “I was even looking up old movies on IMDB but going to the lowest rated ones and locking in and appreciating the time, money and effort that went into these atrocious films that didn’t hit their mark, and I found myself being drawn to the aesthetic and art in context of our current time.”
The mixture of electronic and analog instrumentation that coincide with the organic feel of the bass guitar and guitar moments, create a timeless feeling for this track. It’s a mixture of old school with a touch of modernity, almost lo-fi in essence with an indie/bedroom pop sheen adding to the songs unique groovy darkness.
‘Paris Green’ is a showcase of Powloh’s signature blend of introspective lyrics and his ability to merge different genres throughout his production. With his sonically adventurous take on electronic music, the track offers an indirect line towards the dance floor.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
