Ekali has already captured the world’s attention this year with a string of successful singles, and he’s now joined forces with Wafia, a gold-selling, Australia-based queer singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist of Iraqi-Syrian descent who’s currently penning her debut album for Atlantic Records (due in 2020). The two teamed up on Ekali’s moving single Be Fine and is officially out today along with its music video, which tells the all-too-familiar tale of heartbreak, while tying together all aspects of the song and prominently featuring Wafia herself – Listen HERE.
Be Fine sets the tone for Fall 2019, along with establishing precedent for Ekali’s forthcoming album that includes singles featuring Illenium, Au/Ra, Kiiara, Nitti Gritti, and more. The dynamic producer (née Nathan Shaw) is no stranger to the music world. Ekali has taken his lifelong obsession with music and cultivated a unique sound culled from his disparate influences; everything from Burial to Joni Mitchell to Dream Theater and beyond. Although his sound defies categorisation, the one constant in Ekali’s music is its commitment to analog-era ideals like warmth and texture that often go missing in modern beats. In an era of music tuned to computerized precision, Ekali’s tracks resonate with a defiantly human touch.

Wafia is a multi-national songwriter on the rise, who’s racked up nearly 300 million cumulative streams and already earned the praise of The FADER and Refinery29. Born to an Iraqi chef father and Syrian mother in The Netherlands, she lived throughout Europe for the first eight years of her life, absorbing inspiration from various cultures. As a member of the queer community, Wafia is keenly aware of her position in life and the good fortune therein and is committed to empowering marginalised communities, at home and abroad, and helping women of all shapes, sizes, and nationalities find themselves in her music. Art is personal, but Wafia firmly believes that gifts are meant to be shared and is passionate about sharing her gift with the world by creating an environment that says “all are welcome here”.
With tracks already out with Louis The Child, Whethan and a debut album on the horizon, Wafia’s collaboration with Ekali on Be Fine is sure to cement both their status as artists to watch in 2019 and beyond!

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
