Pumarosa have unveiled the stunning new music video for their latest single “Dragonfly“, taken from their much-anticipated debut album, ‘The Witch‘ due out May 19 via Fiction Records (Crystal Castles, The Maccabees, Kate Tempest, The Big Moon, The Amazons) / Caroline Australia.

Of the new Holly Hunter-directed video, the band told NYLON they drew inspiration from the hatching of dragonflies and “the liquid world they emerge from.” “Dragonfly” is described by the band as a piece of “alien pop simplicity,” matching the London five-piece’s immersive cinematic instrumentation to a haunting vocal from lead singer and visual artist Isabel Muñoz-Newsome. Explaining ‘Dragonfly’, Isabel says: “We are so used to protecting ourselves from each other that when the time comes to be open, sometimes we can’t do it. ‘Dragonfly’ is about shedding this armour.”

Having recently toured Australia last month to ecstatic reception, including sold out shows in Sydney and Melbourne, Pumarosa are set to release their first ever full-length album ‘The Witch‘ in May. With multi-dimensional sounds which rise from nothing to expansive, free-spirited frenzies, ‘The Witch’ digs deeper into Pumarosa’s stunningly surreal yet danceable and emphatic sound. ‘The Witch’ will soundtrack a vivid journey of the band thus far: from the shared Tottenham warehouse they formed in to the derelict Italian cinema in which they honed their sound, and finessed in the South London studio of Dan Carey (Kate Tempest, Bat For Lashes, TOY).

Touching on subjects as diverse as art, politics and sexual identity, Pumarosa have won over fans and music critics alike. With praise coming from The Guardian, Stereogum, The Fader, DIY, i-D and NME, they earned the label of ‘Ones to Watch‘ by Line of Best Fit as well as #1 Most Blogged About Artist on Hype Machine. They have received radio play crossing the pacific, from BBC 6Music, Radio X and Annie Mac and Huw Stephens at Radio 1 to our very own triple j, where ‘Dragonfly’ was recently spot added.
