In just over a month a new secret location in the sprawling rainforest of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast Hinterland will come alive with the sights and sounds of artistic wonder for Jungle Love Festival 2018.
The Festival today announced their final lineup which sees over 100 artists and musicians across a variety of disciplines and genres join headliners psych-rockers POND and innovative Kiwi glitch-hop producer OPIUO for the festival’s fifth tropical instalment.
The announcement includes a highly-anticipated DJ set by Jono Ma – from Jagwar Ma – in the festival’s ‘after hours’ shipping container nightclub Kunst Klub , revered South Stradbroke Island bass virtuoso Mark Peric , an unorthodox rave led by the EDM laundry appliances of The Ironing Maidens , and a very special indigenous BlakOut festival-wide takeover curated by Digi Youth Arts Artistic Director Alethea Beetson featuring fashionistas and RnB queens The Merindas .
The second lineup of artists join a program brimming with the festival’s trademark mix of the industry’s most exciting up-and-comers, crowd favourites and international wildcards. Also getting down in the Jungle will be local gems Gabriella Cohen , FeelsClub , First Beige, Nice Biscuit , interstate acts such as Melbourne rockers Approachable Members of Your Local Community and Sydney’s brightest female punk force RACKETT , along with four international artists; Japanese ‘loop ninja’ Kenta Hayashi , UK dub and remix king Mad Professor and the Queensland debut of British neo-soul songstress China Bowls .
Fully immersive, Jungle Love Festival is all about getting more out of your festival experience.
Whether that be waking up to sunrise yoga, floating down the Yabba Creek enjoying a midday beer, or discovering a band you’ve never heard before as the sun sets on a balmy Queensland evening; the 3-day, BYO festival is an ode to new discoveries and experiences.
Festival Co-Director Raymond Williams says audiences are in for an absolute treat with his program highlight Jungle Love Allstars: Live Tribute to Justice . Inspired by the legendary French electronic duo, the tribute performance will feature a 12-piece band of some of Brisbane’s finest musicians, hand-picked from groups such as Big Dead , LeSuits , beneb , Inigo , HRBRT , Andy Ward as well as the string quartet from Nonsemble .
“It’s a real pleasure to be able to reveal all of the artists performing in our new festival home. I believe it’s one of the most musically diverse lineups of any festival in Australia – featuring live and electronic music as well as experimental sonic artists across a wide range of disciplines. Music aside, the program is also stacked with exciting and incredibly immersive visual and performance art.
“Our program is much more about the acts you don’t know than the ones you do. It’s a chance to discover something special you’d never ordinarily stumble upon” said Williams.
In addition to the festival’s impressive music and arts program, Jungle Lovers will be able to take part in workshops, holistic pastimes, watch cross-discipline performance pieces, live visual art activations, and take part in the likes of live action Official Dungeons & Dragons Immersive Theatre , dating show Jungle Love ME , Laughing Yoga , Water Aerobics and so much more.
Jungle Love Festival is also proudly committed to being entirely environmentally conscious, vowing to step it up a notch in 2018 with their sustainability partner 5 Mile Radius – a bespoke group that specialise in architecture and design made and sourced with materials from within a five mile radius of each site.
And the Festival’s results speak for themselves; in 2017 the festival diverted nearly all recyclable materials from landfill and managed to reduce the number of cars travelling to the event by 15.6% by incentivising public transport and carpooling – a figure they plan to increase this year.
Centered around this year’s theme of Trash to Treasure , Jungle Love also invites revelers to reuse and borrow everything they intend to bring to the new festival site to reduce landfill contributions.
Festival organisers are challenging all Jungle Lovers to not buy anything new when preparing and packing for the 2018 festival; whether it be an eye-catching outfit or a tent fit for the whole crew, all can be borrowed or bought second hand.
Final Release tickets are now on sale through the Festival’s website, with options to bring your own tent or hire one onsite. Jungle Lovers are also encouraged to purchase transport tickets to reduce emissions from travelling to and from the festival . My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
