Registrations are now open for QMusic’s free professional development series INDUSTRY CONNECT, set to begin in April, in partnership with venues and councils in Brisbane, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Cairns.

INDUSTRY CONNECT provides new and emerging artists access to industry workers and resources through facilitated workshops from April – July annually. The program aims to give each participant a greater understanding of the music industry, from song writing to release and everything in between.

Facilitators joining the program this year are currently working with Flight Facilities, LDRU, Thundamentals, Styalz Fuego (Peking Duk, Daniel Johns, EXO), Baker Boy, Mallrat, Tired Lion, Tkay Maidza, Kwame, Bobby Alu and Luude.

Participants will get the chance to meet and learn from a diverse selection of music industry professionals including, Independent, major labels and directly from Queensland artists, The Kite String Tangle, Jaguar Jones and more – full list below.

Once on board, 2019 INDUSTRY CONNECT participants will be in the running to receive a personalised PR package from GYROstream and the opportunity to attend a three-day songwriting retreat at Heliport Studios on the Sunshine Coast.

To sweeten the deal, QMusic’s donors community will fund five INDUSTRY CONNECT participants to attend BIGSOUND Festival 3-6 September, to further their networks and learn from some of the best minds around the globe. The bursary includes delegate passes, flights to Brisbane and accommodation.

INDUSTRY CONNECT’s biggest advocates are 2018 participants, Greta Stanley, who continues to gain momentum since the release of her debut LP, Full Grown and Gold Coast R&B pop artist DVNA whose debut single Girl On The Move has received more than 500K streams and currently sits across a number of Spotify playlists.

“The feedback, the connection, the feeling of being part of the music community and the culture allowed me to gain confidence in my music and focus on my release,” said DVNA.

Townsville’s Greta Stanley had similar feedback, “..these workshops have made me more confident in many aspects of my career within the music industry” she said, “The workshops and panelists have been really helpful and I would highly recommend them to aspiring artists”.

It’s free to attend INDUSTRY CONNECT and Queenslanders are encouraged to sign up at www.qmusic.com.au to secure their spot.

INDUSTRY CONNECT has been developed by Queensland’s music industry development association QMusic, producers of the annual Queensland Music Awards and BIGSOUND Festival. Funded by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, QMusic aims to represent and arm Queenslanders with the networks, opportunities and knowledge to build sustainable careers in the music industry.

Since launching in 2017, INDUSTRY CONNECT has helped 1,190 artists and music industry practitioners navigate the contemporary music industry landscape.
