Red Bull today launches the fourth season of their Red Bull 64 Bars series, shining a light on some of Australia’s brightest and most diverse voices in rap and hip-hop. In 2021, Red Bull 64 Bars invites Western Sydney’s A.Girl, Bankstown’s Jaecy, Perth’s Shadow and Bundjalung MC JK-47 to deliver quick-witted and sharply spun raps to music lovers, each navigating their fast accelerating careers. Returning alongside the series will be Red Bull’s Behind The Bars podcast, where artists deep dive into the stories and moments that influenced their verses. 

Western Sydney’s A.Girl launches the fourth season of Red Bull 64 Bars with an equal offering of razor sharp raps and dreamy R&B vocals. Having the grace of a global star, A.Girl is slowly but surely seeing her fan base expand, as she releases excellent single after single, and performs at festivals including Listen Out pre-COVID, and BIGSOUND.

Next up, prepare to witness the magic of Bankstown’s Jaecy whose astute verses reflect a childhood influenced by absorbing UK rap among his peers in Western Sydney. Having found connection in familial hip-hop collective The Area Movement, and collaborations with the likes of Hooligan Hefs and HP Boyz, Jaecy’s step in the booth for Red Bull 64 Bars promises nothing short of phenomenal.

In the following weeks to come, the spotlight on Perth rapper, Shadow. After a move to WA from South Africa in 2008, the MC has been writing non-stop since, inspired by the classic vision of artists like Big L and Nas. Signing to Hilltop Hoods’ Golden Era Records in 2018, Shadow has been unstoppable since, seeing his fierce lyricism making him one of the West’s best known rappers.

Closing out season 4 of Red Bull 64 Bars is none other than JK-47, delivering 64 bars that speak to the importance of self belief in artistry and taking work ethic seriously. Highlighting the music’s role in providing an outlet to navigate hard times, JK-47’s vulnerability and emotive honesty captured in his verses are powerful and full of phrases that will stick around in your mind. Releasing his acclaimed debut album, Made For This last year and having performed on the stages of BIGSOUND and Listen Out, JK-47 is cementing his talents as one of the country’s most promising rappers on the rise.

The 64 Bars project was first founded at Red Bull Studios Auckland with David Dallas, as a simple method of having handpicked MCs hit the booth and lay down 64 bars. The series launched to critical acclaim, enlisting Brooklyn-based world-renowned rapper Talib Kweli and continues around the globe. The Australian ‘64 Bars’ series has so far featured artists from across the country including Jesswar, B Wise, Dallas Woods, Baker Boy, Carmouflage Rose, Genesis Owusu before, most recently, Gumbaynggirr man Tasman Keith, Melbourne’s Sophiya and Goodna’s Lisi.
