Following on from the release of their critically praised single ‘Cure 4 Psycho’, Sydney-based alternative-rock trio RedHook have just revealed the accompanying music video – directed by lead singer Emmy Mack and edited by D O Blackley from Her Name Is Murder Productions (Norma Jean, Ocean Grove).
Inspired by the worldwide juggernaut TV series The Bachelorette, the clip sees Mack as the titular character, with the eligible men featuring a slew of famous music serial killers, from American Psycho’s Patrick Bateman to Chucky. Predictably, the dates don’t go as planned, as Mack turns the tables on the well-known horror characters.
Mack explains the inspiration behind the clip: “It’s a cooked concept but I wanted to do something that reflected both the aggression and tongue-in-cheek energy of the song. Plus, it was fun to flip the trope and have the Bachelorette go postal and start stalking and maiming all of these iconic fictitious lady killers.”
To coincide with this release, the band will play a number of shows in 2021, including La La La’s in Wollongong, The Cambridge in Newcastle, UC Hub in Canberra and the first iteration of The Other Festival in Brisbane featuring Australian prog rock luminaires COG.
Previously to the worldwide pandemic, the band toured relentlessly, including multiple headline Australian tours and a debut UK/European tour. This also included appearances at Download UK, Good Things, BIGSOUND and Halloween Hysteria 2019, as well as supporting the likes of The Amity Affliction, Sevendust, Hands Like Houses and Ocean Grove.
Previous releases have seen extensive support from Spotify, Apple Music, triple j (three singles added to full rotation) and triple j Unearthed, with the three-piece winning the Download Sydney triple j Unearthed competition. They’ve also received glowing support from worldwide tastemaker blogs Rock Sound (UK), Kerrang! (UK), Pilerats, Hysteria Magazine, HEAVY Mag and Don’t Bore Us, as well as hosting the ABC’s esteemed video program Rage, with multiple music videos being added to rotation.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
