Hydrofunk Records are excited to announce the release of RESIN DOGS brand new single ‘Bad Dog’ Feat. Harlen, available on all digital platforms Friday July 30.
A collaboration between Katch and Dave from Resin Dogs and Harlen, the single was recorded at Hydrofunk HQ in Byron Bay earlier this year. Working on some different styles and beats not usual to the Resin Dogs sound, Dave shared them with Katch in a listening session, and after a chance meeting with Jess Harlen at a gig, the trio got together and worked up the track into the stellar new single ‘Bad Dog’. This collaboration is the most ‘pop’ the Resin Dogs have sounded to date, with the band feeling very open to the direction of the song and embracing a new sound.
Born in New Zealand and growing up in Australia, Jess Harlen is an accomplished vocalist, guitarist, song writer, and solo recording artist. Paving the way with a hypnotic groove and ethereal sound she established a music career in Melbourne releasing two full length solo albums through Plethora Records (an imprint label of Obese Records) before relocating to LA to further her pursuit in performance and song writing. Back in Australia after 5 years in the U.S, Jess collaborated on several projects before recording ‘Bad Dog’ with Resin Dogs.
On the single Harlen says ‘Bad Dog is a soulful pledge for those of us whom have heard our inner voice say one thing but felt the fear of past experience guide us to do another, ultimately looping back into the very cycle we were trying to escape. it’s an anthem to break free from the past, from the non-truths we have inherited, and to go forth courageously in our authenticity with our hearts on our sleeves.’
The companion video for ‘Bad Dog’ was filmed and edited by Codie McCarthy (Indigenoise & The Boy Of Many Colors) with conceptual input from Dave, and the clip captures the beauty and elegance of the hills along the backroads of Byron Bay and their stunning surrounds. The video also incorporates footage from iconic venues Rocking Horse studios and The Triffid where Resin Dogs have both recorded and performed many times over the years.

Back with a 10-piece live band featuring special guests, Resin Dogs return to The Zoo on Saturday July 31 to celebrate the release of ‘Bad Dog’. Always joined by front man Mc Dno, who guides the set, re-interpreting versions of the catalogue to rock the party, the addition of back-up singers (The Sativa Divas) has added harmonies giving a fresher sound to some already classic Dogs tunes.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
