Fresh from the release of their debut self-titled EP, Rest For The Wicked have today announced a series of East Coast dates on their DEBUT EP TOUR! The tour commences in Wollongong on July 31 before heading to Port Macquarie, Melbourne, Ipswich, Sydney, winding up at Mo’s on the Gold Coast on December 3. Tickets are on sale now.
Rest For The Wicked, the burgeoning brainchild of Melbourne artist Ben Townsend and Sydney based multi-skilled producer Tasker, has been described as rowdy, vulnerable, dysfunctional, technicolour… even a little bit emo. Their debut, eponymously titled EP is a collection painted from a palette overflowing with colour, chaos, emotion, darkness and some psych wickedness. Alongside creative director in acclaimed Brisbane artist James Hornsby, Rest For The Wicked have created a visual and melodic world unto its own. Ben Townsend said today, “We are super keen to play our debut EP to all the lovely people who come to show us support on this run. We can’t wait to see everyone & make some unforgettable memories!”
Raucous single ‘Impulse’ opens the EP: “The Oxford languages dictionary defines ‘Impulse’ as 1. 1. a sudden strong and unreflective urge or desire to act.” We live by this definition. Our life is one of impulse and what better way to showcase our habits then making a whole song about it.” explains Ben. For all their chaos and calamity, the duo’s sonic explorations offer up an earnestness often glossed over. Reflections of religion, loss and family entangled in salubrious celebration.
The Rest For The Wicked EP also features a glorious version of Kid Cudi x MGMT’s stellar ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ which has created a crowd singlong moment at RFTW’s sold out shows – Ben “We love Kid Cudi. Kid Cudi is GOD.” – previous drops ‘Feel The Same Way’ and ‘Devil’s Delight’, the disarmingly poignant ‘Introvert’ and their debut single ‘Bones’. Having garnered 200k streams, over 1M Tik Tok views, played Grapevine Gathering festival in VIC and long-awaited debut sold out shows in Melbourne and Sydney early in 2022, the band are excited to embark on this fantastically messy, headline tour of Australia across the second half of the year.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
