Sydney-based pop artist Ricky Rosen makes his long-awaited return with the heartfelt new single ‘I Got You’, released via Hundred Days Records. Blending timeless soul influences with a fresh, contemporary sensibility, ‘I Got You’ showcases Ricky’s distinctive vocal presence, classic-meets-modern musical identity, and the charm that first drew millions to his online audience.
Speaking on the release, Ricky shares “‘I Got You’ was always meant as a fun track that doesn’t take itself too seriously. It has an authentic live band sound with an equally authentic feeling; gratitude for the people in your life who make the unbearable bearable and the ordinary extraordinary.”
There are not many examples of artists who, while becoming a doctor, have simultaneously built one of the largest social media followings in the country. Reflecting on the writing process, he explains “It came about after three hours of listening to music with (co-writer) Glenn Hopper and complaining about how I’m too much of a cynic to write a love song, right after which we proceeded to write a love song. It was borne out of an honest appreciation that as long as I have my person, and my people, I’m never alone.”
Inspired by a new generation of soulful, emotionally honest artists – including Olivia Dean and Amy Winehouse – Ricky leans into the intimacy, character and sincerity of contemporary neo-soul, while bringing his own unmistakably authentic touch.
