Rising UK-based singer-songwriter HOLLY HUMBERSTONE shares ‘Overkill’ today: the third single taken from her forthcoming debut EP. Written with Rob Milton (Easy Life) and Benjamin Francis Leftwich, the track perfectly captures the emotions that come with falling for someone new. For the accompanying visual, Holly was dragged out by her sister at dusk and put through her paces on an unconventional run, unaware of where she was being taken but told she must perform en route.

Speaking of the release, Holly says: “The video for ‘Overkill’ was a pretty weird experience. Lockdown meant that we couldn’t shoot a professional video, so we had to improvise a little! My sister Eleri and I took an old VHS camera out at dusk into a forest near our home and she had me follow her through the trees, as I played along to ‘Overkill’. It was basically my version of the 5km run except I had no idea where I was going and it was impossible to see anything and not trip.”

Holly has proven herself an undeniable talent since her debut track, ‘Deep End’ and ‘Falling Asleep At The Wheel’, which have amassed well over 10 million streams to date. With a rapidly growing fanbase, the 20-year-old Grantham native has garnered top-tier acclaim from the likes of NY Times, Clash, NME, Billboard, BBC Radio 1, KCRW and triple j, and landed on the cover of Apple Music’s New Music Daily and Spotify’s hugely influential TGIF playlist.

Taking inspiration from Phoebe Bridgers, Bon Iver, Lorde, Ben Howard and HAIM, Holly’s sound has an honest and conversational style that fuses together the warmth of the music she grew up listening to, with a darker atmosphere and electronic tone. She’s previously been championed by BBC Music Introducing, – which resulted in a performance on their stage at Glastonbury 2019 – has been Intro Track of the Week on Radio 1 and recently capped off an extended support tour with Lewis Capaldi throughout Europe that included a performance in front of 12,000 fans at the iconic Wembley Arena.

Holly is currently finishing her debut EP at home, in the old, run down, country house that she grew up in.
