Ivy League Records are incredibly excited to reveal ‘Cars In Space’ – the first taste of new music from Melbourne outfit, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever.
Set against the band’s revered world of driving & passionate guitar pop, ‘Cars In Space’ – premiered by Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music – follows the swirling words and thoughts before a break-up. Propelled by the chemistry of the five-piece and totalling 4.58, ‘Cars In Space’ is bold and classic Rolling Blackouts C.F. while hinting at a new chapter to come.
Accompanying the single is the sun-drenched video, directed by Nick McKinlay alongside assistant-director Julia Jacklin. Set in broad daylight at an old-school Australian drive-in, the clip is full of charm, wit & plenty of surprises for Rolling Blackouts C.F. fans.
The announcement of new music from the band arrives on the eve of a busy touring schedule, kicking off this Fri 14 Feb at Perth Festival followed by Nine Lives Festival (Sun 1 March), Sydney Opera House Forecourt supporting Pixies (Sat 14 Mar & Sun 15 Mar), Brunswick Festival (Wed 18 Mar) and Meadow Festival, Bambra (Sat 28 March). Following their local shows, the band head to the UK/EU for a string of festivals including Primavera Sound (Barcelona), All Points East (London), Neighbourhood Weekender (Warrington), Immergut (Germany), and Best Kept Secret in the Netherlands.

‘Cars In Space’ is the first glimpse of new music from the band since 2019’s 7”, two-single release of ‘In The Capital’ and ‘Read My Mind’, which followed up the band’s internationally acclaimed 2018 debut album, Hope Downs. Featuring singles ‘Mainland’, ‘Talking Straight’, ‘An Air Conditioned Man’, ‘Time In Common’ & ‘Sister’s Jeans’ – Hope Downs was embraced by lovers of their early EPs, Talk Tight and The French Press, and new fans alike. The record quickly became one of the most internationally acclaimed Australian albums of the year, appearing in many sought after Best of 2018 lists, coming in at #5 on Rough Trade’s Albums of the Year list, #3 on MOJO’s Album of the Year List (+ was named MOJO’s Debut Album of the Year), #2 on UNCUT’s Albums of the Year, being shortlisted for the prestigious AMP Award & receiving tremendous support from the likes of FBi Radio, PBS, Triple R, triple j, Double J, Pitchfork, The Guardian, Paste Magazine, NME, Rolling Stone US, BBC 6 Music, Stereogum, DIY Mag, and countless others.
Meanwhile, the band’s renowned live show led to selling-out their mammoth Hope Downs Australian tour, as well as sold-out performances in London, San Diego, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, Philadelphia, New York City and more. The huge touring schedule also included shows at the world’s biggest music festivals, from Coachella, The Great Escape, Primavera, and Shaky Knees to Lowlands, Pukklepop, Green Man and Splendour in the Grass.
Watch this space – 2020 is gearing up to be a big one for Rolling Blackouts C.F.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
