Premiered via The Music, Melbourne psych-pop band Royston Vasie are back with their latest single “Dream On”. The infectious track is officially out Friday, 7th September 2018 and is the lead single taken from their forthcoming LP COLOUR SPRINGS FROM ALL THE GLOOMY THINGS, due for release next month via Brain Fade Records.
Recorded at Head Gap in Melbourne with Finn Keane (Wilco, Twerps, MidnightJuggernauts), “Dream On” is full of wonderment, sorrow and delight. The slow driving psych-pop repetition is reminiscent of the 1980’s Australian surf scene à la The Sunnyboys and GANGgajang. Royston Vasie capture a raw and vulnerable slice of musical imagination perfectly, leading the listener to see before seeing. “Dream On” is an enchanting subdued piece of surf-psych-pop-atmospheric delight.
With their sophomore album WATER COLOURS recorded under the watchful eye of multi-instrumentalist Colin Hegna of the Brian Jonestown Massacre, the band have shared stages with the likes of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Courtney Barnett, The Vasco Era, and Manchester Orchestra. Royston Vasie have previously drawn influence from bands such as The Black Lips and The Dandy Warhols but have recently been heavily influenced by The Beach Boys.
“Dream On” is available for streaming and purchase on Friday, 7th September!
“By channeling that greatness without imitating, focusing on substance over style, they’re a band who will quite readily graduate from being an entertaining trip to the past to a group with a future worth following” – Cool Perth Nights
“Royston Vasie is definitely a band to keep your eye on.” – Beat Mag
“Royston Vasie put on a killer live performance that exceeded expectations; their sound is replete with jangly guitar, psychedelia and some laid back vocals to boot.” – The AU Review
