Congratulations to The Nights who’ve been selected by RÜFÜS DU SOL as the winner of triple j Unearthed’s remix competition. The Sydney-based electronic trio will open the final show of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s headline tour in Hobart, Tasmania.
Calling from the LA studio where they first wrote ‘New Sky’, RÜFÜS DU SOL said, “It was amazing and very humbling to receive over 500 remixes of ‘New Sky’. There is clearly a lot of talent in Australia right now, evidenced in how many strong ideas there were. What we loved about The Nights’ remix is that we could tell these guys had a singular vision for the track. Not only was it a nice melodic journey, the bonus was that it was also dance floor ready.”
The Nights gave ‘New Sky’ an immersive deep house treatment, turning it into a seven-minute long opus bursting with lush textures, melodies and phosphorescent tones.
As part of their prize, The Nights’ remix will receive airplay on triple j and triple j Unearthed. Plus, they’ll perform at Hobart’s Regatta Grounds on Saturday 4 January, alongside RÜFÜS DU SOL and support acts Willaris .K and Lastlings. It’s a stacked line-up and The Nights fit the bill perfectly with their dark and moody electronica.
Big ups to this year’s finalists Kult Kyss, Lucalion, Tyson Kraft and Yvng Jalapeño who each brought something spicy to their RÜFÜS DU SOL remix.

triple j Unearthed – discovering new Australian music
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
