Following the release of her debut album in 2017, Sabrina Lawrie is excited to be sharing the new music video for single “Nopiates” premiered over at TheMusic.com.au. along with the announcement of her Brisbane full band launch at The Zoo on Jan 18th and a slew of solo and duo dates both homeside and interstate.
Sabrina has spent the past six months, writing and recording new material for her next record. Another genre spanning epic, Lawrie has stepped into the producer’s seat working out of her own studio space in Brisbane, marrying programmed and electronic sounds with her signature guitar based hypnotic undertones. The sound that is emerging connects Sabrina with new and old inspirations the likes of Radiohead and Massive Attack.
New single “Nopiates” reveals a more personal side of Sabrina and discusses a sensitive topic surrounding addictions and looking deeper into one self for approval and positive healing.
“After a run of people both in the limelight and in my own life had been affected by over prescription of certain pharmaceutical drugs and then I heard the news we’d lost Chris Cornell to suicide whilst he was on the road and also effected by medication, I was deeply moved and it hit very close to home for me. I’d had my own battle with painkillers following a serious spinal injury and was lucky to find the journey to drug free pain management so my own connection and understanding of the issue was what inspired me to write Nopiates” – Sabrina Lawrie

The song was produced, engineered and recorded by Sabrina and collaborator Ben Kerswell in her own studio Two Vines and mixed by Konstantin Kersting (Tia Gostelow, The Belligerents) and mastered by Berlin engineer Cem Oral (Wu Tang Clan, Gwen Stefani, NIN).
“I had been exploring electronic sounds for many years but only really scratched the surface with a few of the tracks on my last album, so I decided to set up my own studio and make a deeper commitment to writing with these new sounds that had interested me for a long time. I’d already incorporated drone tones and ambient sounds into my live show along with the organic instruments, but where I am headed with Nopiates and a lot of the songs on the next album, is an exciting new step for me.” – Sabrina Lawrie
The artwork is an original piece by Queensland artist Glenn Brady, painted in response to the song, with an emphasis on the poppy flower from which opiates are derived.
2019 will be a year full of collaborations and new releases as Sabrina prepares to drop her new record. She is also working with local Dj/Producer Johnny Ahern on a dance remix of her last single Become and we’ll expect to hear more from Lawrie as a producer herself, mentoring and recording material for a number of new artists in the new year.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
