Following on from 2016 with the release of his Gilles Peterson and Boiler Room approved Natural Selections EP, the innovative Brisbane based producer, Sampology (Sam Poggioli) today shares his new single “Mt Glorious”, and announces his forthcoming EP with a string of tour dates to celebrate.

“Mt Glorious”  provides an ethereal electronic sound from start to finish, finding the perfect balance between new sounds and live instrumentation, accentuating Sam’s recordings of piano, percussion, a string quartet and more. Working with these elements, the single is an expansive listen that highlights Sampology’s pure musical talent. The lush vocals of Hannah Macklin, which were originally intended for another track lost in a computer crash years ago, have found a fitting home on “Mt Glorious”. Paired with driving drums, this vocal hook will have you floating toward the ceiling. Bringing the track home in the final minute is the ambient sounds of Meraki, an all female string quartet which Sampology recorded in his home studio.

Alongside the new release Sampology has announced he’ll be kicking off his tour on June 22ndin Melbourne at The Gasometer before heading west to Perth’s Jack Rabbit Slims on June 23rd. From there, Sampology will play a hometown show at Brisbane’s The Foundry on June 30 before traveling south to Sydney’s Freda’s on July 6th. Finally, the tour will wrap with a show at Adelaide’s Fat Controller on the 7th of July. Accompanying the run of show will be visuals created by Sam himself – in line with the art that he hand drew for the release – creating what will be a truly immersive experience.

“Mt Glorious” is the product of a year long process refining what originally was an 11 minute track. The complex and layered sound allows you to discover something new with every listen, including a live recording from the rainforest in Brisbane’s National Park, the aptly named Mt Glorious. Sampology says on his latest release “I was in a very specific zone when I made this song. In my head it was just me in the middle of the national park while I first started making it, I had just visited Mt Glorious for the first time recently.”

Coming ahead of his forthcoming 6-track EP of the same name, “Mt Glorious” peels back the layers of Sampology’s musical palette and influences and is another propelling sonic vision from the talented producer.
