Handsome Tours is excited to announce that Sarah Blasko will revisit her seminal third album ‘As Day Follows Night’ for its 10th Anniversary with unmissable performances at Australia’s most beloved theatres in 2022.

Released on Dew Process in July 2009, ‘As Day Follows Night’ represents a high watermark in Australian songwriting. It won the 2009 J-Award for Australian Album Of The Year, and also took out the ARIA Award for Female Artist Of The Year. The album, which features favourites such as ‘All I Want’, ‘We Won’t Run’ and ‘Bird On A Wire’, went on to achieve platinum certification and was listed at #19 in the book 100 Best Australian Albums, the highest placed record by a female artist. ‘As Day Follows Night’ officially chalked up its 10th anniversary in 2019 with a deluxe repackage; however, with various Covid related restrictions and issues talking hold in 2020, she was never able to commemorate the occasion with live shows as she’d originally intended.

In celebration of the milestone, Blasko will perform the album in its entirety – and other favourites from across her illustrious career – at some of Australia’s most iconic theatres: Sydney’s State Theatre, Brisbane’s Tivoli, and Melbourne Recital Centre:

Blasko has described the album as a “hopeful heartbreak” record. It’s a collection of songs which inhabits a rare sonic universe created over 5 magical days in Sweden with producer Bjorn Yttling, (Peter, Bjorn & John) – who had shaped recordings as diverse as The (International) Noise Conspiracy, The Hives, Camera Obscura and Lykke Li.

“He took my vision and helped make it into a reality but took it in directions I never imagined it could go – particularly rhythmically.”

At the time of its original release, Blasko explained, “This album feels more like it honestly expresses my tastes and my feelings. I think that in some of the songs you feel that you’re transported to another era, but I think it’s difficult to pinpoint when or where that is.”

As the title suggests, ‘As Day Follows Night’ is something of an awakening. It is the dawn that follows a night of hardship, the hope that follows heartbreak and the realisation of inner strength.

This is a singer and a sound beyond easy classification. From the haunting sounds of ‘All I Want’ to the stomping tomes of ‘No Turning Back’, the fragility of ‘Is My Baby Yours?’ to the soulful ‘We Won’t Run’, Blasko brought beauty, heartbreak and hope alive with ‘As Day Follows Night’.

Ready yourself to share in the live experience of ‘As Day Follows Night’ all over again and celebrate with Sarah Blasko as she tracks through the album in these one-off, exclusive shows.
