On February 8th 2023, artist Sarah Louise French announced the release of her new single, ‘The Woman In Me’, which is available on all major streaming platforms this International Woman’s Day, March 8th 2023. The song is the first of a collection of songs set to be released sometime next year in her debut full-length original album titled ‘Heavy Suitcase’. She is working with producer and multi-instrumentalist Eric Michael Lichter of Dirt Floor Recording Studio located in Haddam, CT.

The release will include a self-produced & self-directed music video recorded this winter just outside of Asheville, North Carolina. ‘The Woman In Me’ was written last year by French at her home in Worcester, Massachusetts. “It was honestly one of the fastest songs I’ve ever written” says French. “It’s a song about realizing (and remembering) how important the simple things in life are. In today’s age of technology and social media, there are way too many distractions. People need to slow down and realize how beautiful life is without all of that. “

“We all carry a heavy suitcase (metaphorically) through life, right?” commented French. She went on to say, “this album is a culmination of my experiences related to that, over the last decade or so. You will hear some of my older songs brought to life, along with brand new songs. I can’t wait to get them all recorded and share them with the world!”

“When Sarah reached out to me in regard to making a new album, I jumped at the chance.” says producer Eric M. Lichter of Dirt Floor Recording Studio. “She shared a number of songs with me early on, and it was hard to choose what would ultimately comprise the collection.” Lichter continues, “Her songs feel fresh, yet somehow so familiar and lived in. These are qualities I always look for in a song and she is, simply put, a songs best friend. We’re deep in the album making process now, and she’s become a great friend, aside from being one of my favorite singer/songwriters. We can’t wait for you to hear this incredible music.”

There will be a fundraising event held on Tuesday, June 6th at Timberyard Brewing Company located in East Brookfield, MA to raise funds for the remaining production of the album. Sarah will perform a solo acoustic set, as well as, a full band line-up of some of your favorite local musicians to showcase the new songs.
