Fresh from touring with Eskimo Joe frontman Kev Temperly, Sydney / Eora indie-pop songstress Sarah Yagki is today announcing her forthcoming sophomore EP (out March 3), with the release of heartfelt title-track, ‘I Love You, I Lied’.

Known for delivering intimate pop-edged stories, brimming with earworm melodies and powerful vocals, Sarah Yagki’s creative process is directly influenced by her own experiences with songwriting acting as a coping mechanism for her PTSD.

“I generally have trouble remembering and reflecting on moments due to my PTSD, and songwriting helps me process and articulate moments that I can’t compartmentalise in life,” Sarah explains.

“My EP’s central message is the process of loss, with the title-track exploring the sense of chaos that occurs after you lose people.”

Produced by Sarah Yagki and James Guildo at Obseen Recordings in St Leonards, the ‘I Love You, I Lied’ EP sees Sarah exploring new territories within her sound, drawing upon influences including Halsey, Avril Lavigne and Blackbear to create a popscape that is all her own.

Journeying through themes of loss – from the end of an intimate relationship, the loss of a close friendship, to losing oneself – Sarah’s five-track EP sees her make unflinching observations about personal relationships, connecting with audiences through brave vulnerability and striking melodies.

Gearing up for an extensive national tour from March until June, Sarah Yagki is revealing her sophomore EP ‘I Love You, I Lied’ on Friday 3 March, celebrating with an EP Launch on Saturday 11 March at OAF – tickets here.

About SARAH YAGKI

Sarah Yagki is an alternative pop/rock artist constantly expanding the scope of her songwriting. Through catchy melodies, poetically crafted lyrics and carefully articulated stories, Sarah’s music has seen her notch up 180+ live performances.

Sarah kicked off 2021 with a solid hit of addictive pop in ‘This Won’t Hurt’, before following up with ‘Shared Eyes’, which played with darker pop sounds – threading drama through an arrangement built on seductive grooves and stirring vocals. These were followed up with the even more adventurous ‘Can’t Hardly Lie’ and the haunting, ‘Rewind’.

This past year has seen Sarah work with new collaborators, including Nico Scali (Loretta)and Yianni Adams (Kyoshi) which have allowed her to further define her sound, whilst remaining true to her storyteller roots. Bringing together open and honest lyricism with primo production and pop-rock arrangements, Yagki’s singles have continued to grow and show a further depth of her creative talent.

During what has been a tumultuous couple of years for the industry, Sarah Yagki has achieved multiple career highlights, including selling out the Vanguard and supporting Montaigne at the University of Woollongong.

Recently selling out the Oxford Art Factory Gallery Bar at her ‘Can’t Decide’ single launch, Sarah Yagki continues to impress audiences with her authentic stage presence and captivating live band, with an upcoming extensive national tour kicking off on March 2, ahead of her sophomore EP release on Friday 3 March.
