Last week saw the stunning sibling duo Say Lou Lou reveal their latest single “Golden Child”, the second track taken from their forthcoming sophomore studio album Immortelle, released globally on 21st September via á Deux/Cosmos Music.

Having taken some time away following the success of their debut Lucid Dreaming LP, the twins returned earlier this year with new material in the form of “ANA”, the lead single from Immortelle.“Golden Child” similarly serves as a stunning reminder of the girl’s musical prowess, showcasing a refreshing new sound that references the old Hollywood golden era and 70’s West Coast with its prevalent guitar licks and crisp drum fills. Written and recorded in an isolated recording studio in Beachwood Canyon in late 2017, “Golden Child” is the result of an intimate creative process between the twin sisters and producers Trent Mazur and Dash Le Francis.

Exploring the themes behind the track, the girls explain their thinking behind the process:

Golden Child was created as an ode to our younger sisters – and to our younger selves in a way – explaining how tricky and confusing cultural/patriarchal structures can be in your self-discovery – so contradictory and hard to navigate. Imploring them to free themselves from the invisible shackles of expected ideas of young womanhood and see the world and life that lie ahead of them ‘on the other side’ – kind of like an empowering lullaby.” – MIRANDA AND ELEKTRA KILBEY (SAY LOU LOU)

Say Lou Lou’s forthcoming album Immortelle offers fans the most personal insight into the girls’ psyche to date and finds them creatively pushing boundaries in a totally unique way. The duo retreated to the hills of Los Angeles with a core team of like-minded creatives to foster a respectful and nurturing space within which Immortelle gradually took shape. The result is a moody and sensual collection of songs with subtle nods to film noir and vintage James Bond scores, always intrinsically woven with the twins’ dreamy, ethereal vocals.

Hailing from Sweden and Australia, twin sisters Miranda and Elektra Kilbey have been charming music critics since their debut album Lucid Dreaming (2015), which featured wildly popular singles such as “Julian”“Games For Girls” and the dreamy “Nothing But A Heartbeat”. Since the release, Say Lou Lou decided they’d reached the end of their relationship with the corporate music industry world and decided to take control of their own artistic vision. In order to produce something that reflected where their heads were at as artists and young women today, they turned to the West Coast of the United States and embarked on making Immortelle, a time in their careers and lives where the two were able to creatively flourish. The resulting album is a triumph and cements the girls as unique voices in 2018’s musical landscape.
